Description

The USDA ARS - WBSC intends to award a sole source Firm Fixed Purchase Order (PO) to COVARIS INC, 14 GILL STREET, UNIT H, WOBURN, MA 0181-1721. This order will purchase a Covaris M220 Focused Ultrasonicator, Starter Kit & Two (2) Year Warranty in support of the ongoing research at USDA ARS, Western Regional Research Center (WRRC), Produce Safety & Microbiology Unit (PSMRU), Albany, CA 94710-1105. The Firm Fixed PO will include the following: 1. #500295US G - COVARIS M220 FOCUSED ULTRASONICATOR 2. #500417 - COVARIS M220 NGS 15 - 130 UL MICRO TUBE STARTER KIT Includes: * 500488 M220 HOLDER XTU INSERT MICROTUBE 50 ΜL * 500489 M220 HOLDER XTU INSERT MICROTUBE 130 ΜL * 500420 M220 HOLDER XTU INSERT MICROTUBE 15 ΜL * 500330 MICROTUBE PREP STATION SNAP & SCREW CAP * 520059 CENTRIFUGE MICROTUBE ADAPTOR 6X16MM (25) * 520145 MICROTUBE-15 AFA BEADS SCREW-CAP (25) * 520166 MICROTUBE-50 AFA FIBER SCREW-CAP (25) * 520045 MICROTUBE AFA FIBER PRE-SLIT SNAP-CAP 6X16MM (25) * 500414 M220 HOLDER XTU USDA ARS, WRRC, PSMRU research has an essential requirement to purchase Covaris M220 Focused Ultrasonicator & the M220 NGS Starter kit. This instrument uses the Adaptive Focused AcousticTM(AFA) process which, applies hydrodynamic shearing forces to the DNA to randomly fragment it. To ensure unbiased DNA fragmentation and high recovery the process of shearing, DNA is conducted under isothermal conditions. Coupled with the integrated thermoelectric temperature controller, Covaris highly efficient and reproducible AFA technology eliminates operator induced variation which is highly desired and provides standardized results. Covaris, Inc. is the only company that manufactures and distributes the M220 Focused Ultrasonicator & the M220 NGS starter kit with the desired technology and features of its kind; therefore, the Government'S needs can only be satisfied by Covaris, Inc. directly. Even though, there are a few competitors (3rd party Vendors) who are able to provide this instrument, ordering from another source would compromise experiments, compromise the integrity of data; and would invalidate the manufacturer's warranty of the instrument. Pursuant to the authority of 41 U.S.C. 253(c)(1) and FAR 6.302-1, Only One Responsible Source and No Other Supplies or Services Will Satisfy Agency Requirements. The award date will be on or about September 20, 2018 ; and this Notice of Intent is not considered as a Request for Quotation (RFQ) nor is it a Request for Proposals (RFP). No solicitation document is available and telephone requests will not be honored. Interested persons may identify their interest and capability to respond to this requirement. A determination, by the Government, to compete this proposed PO based on responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government. The Government will consider all responses received by 10:30AM EST, September 19, 2018. Information received will be considered solely for determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement.
