- This is a Sources Sought Notice and is for INFORMATION & MARKET RESEARCH PURPOSES ONLY. This IS NOT a request for proposals, quotations, or bids. Responses to this request will not be returned. Not responding to this sources sought does not preclude participation in any future and potential solicitation. It is the intent of the USACE Philadelphia to use this information for market research purposes only. The survey is being conducted to determine the interest of industry within NAICS code 336611, and to establish that there are adequate large and/or small business contractors for providing the marine work described below. The Government WILL NOT pay for the provision of any information, nor will it compensate any respondents for the development of any such information. If a formal solicitation is released, it will be via Federal Business Opportunities (http:www.fbo.gov). The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers intends to procure a new welded steel flat deck floating crane barge. The barge will be used for pedestal crane operations on the Great Lakes Region. The primary function of the floating crane barge will be to conduct clam shell operations utilizing a pedestal crane which will be provided to the contractor as Government Furnished Equipment (GFE) for installation on the barge. The barge will be built to and classed by the American Bureau of Shipping (ABS). The barge to be provided as part of the forth coming solicitation will be based on an as-built design, with the design being updated to reflect changes for the district's operation. Principal Characteristics: The barge will have the following principle dimensions: LOA - 160 feet - 0 inches Beam - 60 feet - 0 inches Depth - 12 feet - 0 inches Draft Waterline- 6 feet - 0 inches The barge shall have NO deckhouse or underdeck machinery spaces. The barge electrical system shall be supported by two generators located on the deck. Generators will be sized to support spud winches, crane hotel loads, and other auxiliary equipment. 3 spuds shall be provided for use in 4 spud wells and will be operated by spud hoisting winches. There will be a heavy lift crane mounted on a pedestal on the barge. The crane will have a 140 foot long boom, and will have a Safe Working Load of 204,000 pounds at a radius of 45 feet. Delivery will be to the Cleveland Area Office, Buffalo District. There will be Liquidated Damages associated with this procurement. Bonding will be required. Contractor is expected to deliver this requirement approximately 730 calendar days after notice to proceed (NTP).
