Description

The VA Northern California Healthcare System (VANCHCS) intends to negotiate a sole source contract with Medline Industries, Inc. The proposed urgent contract action is to acquire a 90-day supply, with an optional 90 day extension period, of surgical custom packs for use in the VANCHCS operating room, interventional radiology, cardiac catheterization lab, and for other procedures. These packs are no longer available on the Medical Surgical Prime Vendor (MSPV) schedule. Award of a local contracting vehicle has been halted by protest. To meet the dire and continual demand for custom packs required for scheduled procedures, VAMC Mather requires the ongoing service of Medline Industries, Inc. Obtaining custom packs from another vendor would result in a break in services that would interrupt scheduled procedures and prevent patient care. This sole source action is in accordance with FAR 6.302-1. Only One Responsible Source and No Other Supplies or Services Will Satisfy Agency Requirements. THIS IS NOT A REQUEST FOR COMPETITIVE QUOTES and no competitive solicitation will be issued; however, any firm that believes it can meet these requirements or provide an equal product may give written notification to the contract specialist for consideration. Supporting evidence must be furnished in sufficient detail to demonstrate the ability to perform, and is due by September 7, 2018 at 3:00PM Pacific. A determination by the Government not to compete this proposed contract based on responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government. Information received will be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement. Responses must be e-mailed to angela.xavier@va.gov. No telephone responses will be accepted. No reimbursement for any costs associated with providing capability statements will be provided by the Government.
