Description
BACKGROUND The mission of the Office of Inspector General (OIG), as mandated by Public Law 95-452 (as amended), is to protect the integrity of Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) programs and the health and well-being of their beneficiaries. OIG reports to the Secretary and the Congress program and management problems and recommendations to correct them. OIG's duties are carried out through a nationwide network of audits, investigations, evaluations, and other mission-related functions. OIG has six components - Office of Audit Services (OAS), Office of Investigations (OI), Office of Evaluation and Inspections (OEI), Office of Counsel to the IG (OCIG), Immediate Office (IO), and Office of Management and Policy (OMP). Executive Secretariat is part of External Affairs (EA), which is part of IO. OBJECTIVE The Office of Executive Secretariat is seeking the services of an experienced Writer-Editor capable of editing OIG reports and other documents, such as memorandums of understanding, congressional replies, publications, presentations, and other communication materials. The objective of this Sources Sought is to conduct Market Research so that this office may procure one full-time position, with the qualifications described below. REQUIREMENTS: The qualifications required for the contract include, but are not limited to, the following: Expert knowledge of grammar, syntax, spelling, and punctuation. Expert knowledge of at least one standard editing style. Expert knowledge of the principles and practice of plain language. Experience in plain-language editing of technical documents. Excellent communication and collaboration skills including experience in negotiating editing issues with authors. Writer-Editor EA Excellent attention to detail and the ability to apply that to complex document-routing processes. Experience in using electronic document tracking systems or other complex databases.
