Description
140P9718Q0172 AKRO Acoustic Doppler Current Profiler SUBJECT: Intent to Sole Source - SonTek. for the purchase of SonTek. for the purchase of an Acoustic Doppler Current Profiler. The National Park Service, Alaska Regional Office, intends to award a sole source, firm fixed price commercial item purchase order to Ysi Incorporated (d.b.a. SonTek) (DUNS # 004246716) to purchase Portable nine-beam 3.0 MHz/1.0 MHz/0.5 MHz acoustic Doppler velocity and bathymetry measurement system intended for use from moving boats and other floating platforms in medium depth water bodies, for The National Park Service Alaska Regional Office located in Anchorage, Alaska 99501. SonTek is the only brand and manufacturer with the ability to provide an acoustic doppler current profiler (ADCP) that is compatible with carriage on a trimaran or similar tethered system and have either radio or Bluetooth communications (not wired directly into a computer or CPU.) The ADCP shall be capable of withstanding depths of 10-15 meters, widths up to 1200m and flows from 10-350 m3/sec. when measuring flow at the mouth of lagoons to support NPS Alaska Region field operations. NPS Alaska Region field operations include measurement of freshwater streams generally less than 5m deep with widths up to 50m across and flows in the 2-10 m3/sec. The lagoon bathymetery covers many square kilometers with runs up to 4-5 hours long and depths generally less than 10m. The ADCP must support Alaskan remote operations with limited opportunities for battery recharging, frequently for up to one week at a time, operating the equipment for 2-6 hours per day. SonTek is the only ADCP unit meeting all of the required specifications for both freshwater and saltwater environments. The estimated magnitude of this project is less than $40,000.
