- This acquisition is to obtain a firm fixed price requirements contract for the purpose of repairing the Computer Navigator in support of the UH-1N Helicopter Program. The item to be repaired is the following: Noun: Computer Navigator; NSN 5826016675541; Part number: 011-01066-00, a global navigation set that simultaneously gives the pilot vital approach information; weather and traffic data. The period of performance shall consist of a basic one-year period after contract award plus four one-year ordering periods. This part must be repaired by a source(s) specified on a source control or selected item drawing as defined by the current version of ASME Y14.100, Engineering Drawing and Related Documentation Practices. Suitable technical data, Government data rights, or manufacturing knowledge is not available to permit repair by other sources. This is not a commercial-off-the-shelf (COTS) item sold or repaired on the open market to both civilian and government customers. The only source currently approved is the Original Equipment Manufacturer, Aero Dynamix Inc. (CAGE Code: 01FX2) as they developed the modification as part of a supplemental type certificate (STC) for other aircraft and Aero Dynamix owns the data rights to the night vision modification that was applied to the model GNS 530AW. The GNS530W is an IFR capable precision approach GPS, VHF radio, and VOR receiver. The GNS530AW also provide terrain avoidance and warning capability. Due to lack of technical data, full and open competition is not an option. Current need for operational components does not allow for unqualified sources to take the time necessary to reverse engineer each component in order to conduct a repair. While there are vendors capable of repairing a standard GNS530AW, the only approved vendor for the NVIS modified GNS530AWs is Aero Dynamix Inc. This is a sole source requirement to Aero Dynamix, Inc. (CAGE Code: 01FX2), 3227 West Euless Blvd, Euless, Texas 76040-6254. Authority: 10 U.S.C. 2304(c)(1) as implemented by FAR 6.302-1, Only One Responsible Source, and no other supplies or services will satisfy agency requirements.
