- Description
- NOTICE OF INTENT This contract action is for the acquisition of supplies for which the Government intends to solicit and negotiate with only one source under the authority of Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) Subpart 13.106-1(b)(1). The National Institute of Environmental Health Science (NIEHS), Office of Acquisitions (OA) intends to award a single source purchase order to TSE Systems, Inc., 186 Chesterfield Industrial Blvd., Chesterfield, MO. 63005, for upgrading the TSE Labmaster instrumentation currently located at the NIEHS, RTP, NC. The purpose of the TSE PhenoMaster System is to expand and existing Labmaster Metabolic Phenotyping System that can provide simultaneous measurements of metabolic responses including real-time indirect calorimetry measurements, food and drink intake activity. The PhenoMaster system offers a unique modular design that enables three disciplines to be combined into a single, fully-automated home cage environment. Phenotyping studies for metabolism, behavior, and physiology are possible using the PhenoMaster system. This design allows easy expansion of the number of cages and add additional capabilities as needed. Currently, there is a TSE System for four mice. The upgraded system will double the housing capacity of the mice ins the sytem and thus save investigators time in performing the experiments. This will expand the data collected on the same mice, thus decreasing animnal use.
