- MACA 15(3) - Market Research - Questions for Firms FLTP-MACA 15(3) Mammoth Cave National Park, Edmonson County, Kentucky Brownsville Rd Pavement Rehabilitation - Market Research Supplement Project Summary and Questions for Prospective Bidders Project Background Project NP-MACA 15(3) consists of the pavement rehabilitation of approximately 5 miles of Brownsville Road (Route 0015) within Mammoth Cave Park in Edmonson County, Kentucky, from the park boundary on the west to the intersection of Mammoth Cave Parkway to the east (MP 0.00 to 5.10). Brownsville Road is a Class 1 Principal Park Road. The purpose of the project is to rehabilitate Brownsville Road in a manner that improves safety, extends the service life of the roadway, and minimizes future maintenance requirements. Scope of Work Summary · Apply 1 ½” asphalt concrete overlay on approximately 5.1 miles of Brownsville Rd within Mammoth Cave National Park (approximately 6,200 tons of asphalt). · Perform approximately 2’ full depth paved shoulder widening with 50:1 tapers. ~2,000 LF in the full widened sections, ~2,000 LF of tapered sections. · Remove approximately 3,700 LF of steel-backed timber guardrail including existing terminals. Install approximately 3,100 LF of steel-backed timber guardrail including proposed terminals. · Install approximately 10,000 LF of edge line rumble strips. · Install approximately 102,000 LF of permanent pavement markings. · Remove and reset approximately 90 LF of stone masonry. · Other miscellaneous work, including concrete ditch repair, curb installation, and sign installation. Key Restrictions · Single lane closures with flaggers will be required. · Holiday and weekend work will generally not be allowed. Schedule · Construction Notice to Proceed (NTP) is anticipated by March 2019 or March 2020, to be determined by the Government and pending the availability of funding. Complete all work by December of the same year NTP is granted. · Note that these dates are estimates only and are subject to change. Questions for Prospective Bidders 1. Is your firm capable of performing pavement rehabilitation work? 2. Is your firm capable of performing asphalt concrete overlay as the pavement preservation treatment method? 3. Is your firm capable of performing shoulder patching and/or full depth widening to alleviate safety concerns with tires tracking off the pavement? 4. What is your firm’s SBA status (Small Business, Large Business, 8(a), HubZone, etc.)? 5. Does your firm possess the capability to self-perform at least 50% of the work described herein, given the possible construction window of March 2019 to December 2019? 6. Does your firm possess the capability to self-perform at least 50% of the work described herein, given the possible construction window of March 2020 to December 2020? 7. Does your firm intend to bid on this project as a prime contractor? 8. Do you intend to bid on this project?
