- Salient Characteristics for Hospital Transport Chair (Qnty. 25) Weight capacity of at least 500 lbs. or greater Must have 35-45 height from floor push handles allowing wrists to be flat for easier steering capability and safer ergonomic back position when pushing or pulling. A bar can cause wrist injury and bad control when trying to steer around corners. Needs to have a one touch with foot central braking system eliminating the need to bend way over and manually push handle down on both sides of chair. Anti-tip wheels Must have big wheel feature to greatly reduce force needed to push/pull and better maneuverability for steering around corners. This feature is greatly needed for our Elderly Volunteer/Escort staff. Chrome plated IV pole to help prevent rusting with 5 slots for individual IV s to hang and not get tangled up Seat width of at least 21.5 Seat must be constructed of solid plastic for easy cleaning/disinfecting in-between each use. Cushion seats will not comply with our Hospital Infection Control Policy guidelines Open design chart holder for easy cleaning Armrest that form up at from of chair for easy egress in and out of chair Footrest that flip up and out of way and in with a simple tap of the foot therefore eliminating the need for patients or caregivers to have to reach down and manually grab dirty foot pedals. Leg supports that retract to under the seat and pop down and lock with a touch of a button Foley hook under seat to keep drainage bag below bladder during transport 02 bottle/tank holder that is upright at back of chair with closing jaw at top and reduces risk of injury not having to lift heavy tank high up or below seat of chair Chairs must be Nestable in a row for storage All parts must be non-removable All of chair must be able to be power washed as needed which is our hospital method Minimum of 3 year parts and 1 year labor and travel
