- (1) Action Code : SOURCES SOUGHT This is a Sources Sought Notice only. This is not a request for proposal, but a survey to locate potential sources. This Sources Sought does not constitute an Invitation for Bids, Request for Proposals, or a Request for Quotations, and is not to be construed as a commitment by the Government to issue an order or otherwise pay for the information solicited, nor is it a guarantee of a forthcoming solicitation or contract. It is for market research purposes only. Respondents will not be notified of the results of the evaluation. The purpose of this Sources Sought Notice is to gain knowledge of interest, capabilities, and qualifications of various members of industry, to include the Small Business Community: Small Business, Section 8(a), Historically Underutilized Business Zones (HUB-Zone), Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned Small Business (SDVOSB), Women-Owned Small Business (WOSB), and Economically Disadvantaged Women-Owned Small Business (EDWOSB). The Government must ensure there is adequate competition among the potential pool of responsible contractors. Small business, Section 8(a), HUBZone, SDVOSB, WOSB, & EDWOSB businesses are highly encouraged to participate. Objective: To find sources that are qualified to meet the supplies/services as listed in section 11B. Note that the specific requirements in section C are subject to change prior to the release of any solicitation. B. Salient Characteristics The Government requires two (2) 3D printers, in accordance with the following salient characteristics: C.1 The Government requires one (1) 3D printer capable of additively manufacturing metal alloy parts, in accordance with the following salient characteristics: • Shall process using Atomic Diffusion Additive Manufacturing • Shall contain materials including 17-4 and 316L stainless steels, 6061 and 7075 aluminums, IN 625 Inconel, A-2 and D-2 tool steel, and Ti-6Al-4V titanium • Shall contain a maximum of 50 micron resolution. • Shall build volume no less than 300 mm x 220 mm x 180 mm • Shall accept 3D modeling files, including the "stereolithography" (.STL) file format • Shall contain automatic tool path determination with ability to manually edit • Shall operate from standard 120V, 20A wall outlet • Shall automatically release from build platform • Shall print captive hollow parts • Shall contain 200 cm3 of ceramic support material • Shall contain 20 kg of stainless steel material • Shall contain one (1) debinding station that operates from standard 120V, 20A wall outlet. • Shall contain one (1) sintering over that operates from standard 120V, 20A wall outlet. C.2 The Government requires one (1) 3D printer capable of additively manufacturing composite parts, in accordance with the following salient characteristics: • Shall contain materials including fiberglass, carbon fibe, and Kevlar® composite • Shall contain a maximum of 50 micron resolution • Shall accept 3D modeling files, including the "stereolithography" (.STL) file format • Shall operate from standard 120V, 20A wall outlet • Shall contain automatic tool path determination with ability to manually edit • Shall contain 50 cm3 of fiberglass composite material • Shall contain 100 cm3 of carbon fiber composite material • Shall contain 50 cm3 of Kevlar® composite material C. Responses: All interested parties should notify this office in writing, mail, fax, or e-mail within the posted date. Responses shall include: (I) To what extent each of the specifications can be met. (II) Include your type of business (i.e. commercial, academia), whether your organization is classified as a large or small business based on the 750 employee standard that accompanies NAICS code 333244. If a small business, you must also list any small disadvantaged status you hold [HUBZone, 8(a), Service Disabled Veteran Owned Small Business (SDVOSB), Women Owned Small Business (WOSB), Economically Disadvantaged Women-Owned Small Business (EDWOSB), etc.].
