- Description
- A. INTRODUCTION The Naval Postgraduate School (NPS) will host a series of conversations throughout FY18. These conversations are an opportunity to explore emerging technologies suitable for a state of the art multi-domain robotics facility as well as novel business models for the operation of such a facility. The facility design under consideration has been tentatively designated as the Sea Land Air Military Robotics (SLAMR) facility is conceptual and may not ever be constructed. NPS is the sponsoring entity for these conversations. Companies, educational institutions, laboratories, foundations and other organizations are invited to submit Design or Operations Conversation proposal that may lead to an invitation to participate in FY18 SLAMR events. B. OBJECTIVE 1) Background: NPS will host five conversations to gather information that may, or may not, inform the proposed design and operation of the SLAMR facility. Following the guidance of both the Secretary of Defense and the Secretary of the Navy, the Naval Postgraduate School seeks to engage in a robust conversation with industry and other non-government agencies to ensure the best design and operational practices are considered in our processes. Invitations to participate in these conversations will be made based on a review of the responses to this RFI. These conversation events are intended to enable rapid iteration on potential technologies and operations models with the direct input of non-federal experts. The expertise of appropriate federal experts will be incorporated via normal processes. See attached document for detailed information and submission instructions.
