Description
Title Fluorescent Thallium Tracers for Fluid Flow Monitoring Background Information Sandia National Laboratories (SNL) has made an initial investment in the research and development of thallium salen tracer technology to aid in the understanding and mapping of deep underground flows of naturally occurring or injected fluids. The thallium salen tracer technology is designed for easy optical detection and for survivability in harsh environmental conditions in deep underground wells. This technology is covered by l U.S. patent application 15/941,848 filed Mar 30, 2018. SNL is seeking commercial partners who are interested in investing further in the development of this technology to create commercial product that could be deployed for the benefit of the U.S. economy. SNL is a multi-mission laboratory operated by National Technology & Engineering Solutions of Sandia, LLC, a subsidiary of Honeywell Corporation, for the United States Department of Energy’s National Nuclear Security Administration under Contract DE-NA0003525. Technology Highlights - Stable at high temperatures and pressures - High luminosity at low concentrations - Low adhesion or adsorption to underground materials - Easily detectable with standard analytical tools Opportunity Description SNL is seeking collaboration with an industrial partner who has proven experience in underground flow monitoring to develop and commercialize its fluorescent thallium tracer technology. SNL invites interested parties to provide a detailed description of relevant background, experience, expertise, and capabilities that could be brought into a collaborative partnership with Sandia. Cooperative Research and Development Agreements (CRADAs), Strategic Partnership Projects (SPP) and Licensing Agreements are available. SNL will evaluate all responses and select prospective parties with which to engage in further discussions based on the following criteria. Specific requirements are as follows: Mandatory Requirements: 1) U.S. companies able to enter into a CRADA agreement with SNL, which requires in-kind contribution in the form of laboratory staff and instrumentation 2) U.S. companies capable of funding additional R&D needed for commercialization 3) Demonstrated experience in bringing early stage technology to market Desired Requirements: 1) Demonstrated experience, expertise, and capabilities in the development and manufacturing of tracer tags 2) Demonstrated successful partnering and teaming relationships with R&D organizations In addition to evaluating the provided information as outlined above, SNL will evaluate all responses and select prospective parties with which to engage in further discussions based on the following criteria, pursuant to Sandia’s technology transfer mission: 1) How will the respondent deploy the technology for the benefit of the U.S. public good? 2) How will the respondent’s deployment of the technology benefit U.S. economic competitiveness? Instructions to Respondents Interested parties that meet the mandatory requirements listed below are invited to respond to this FBO. Any information provided in response to this FBO will not be returned. Any and all responses are voluntary and SNL will not pay for any information submitted in response to this FBO. Only electronic submissions will be accepted. Responses should be mailed to rtweste@sandia.gov and should include the FBO title and submitting organization’s name in the subject line. Attachment size should not exceed 5 MB and only the following document types will be accepted (.doc,.docx and.pdf). Responses should he submitted electronically no later than 5:00 pm MDT on TBD.
