- This Final notice announces the Submarine Center ™s Training Technology Showcase Series. The Submarine Learning Center plans, programs, budgets, and executes individual and team training for Undersea Warfare Enterprise mission readiness. The Submarine Learning Center develops, assigns, and coordinates future undersea warfare training and education solutions and allocates resources to execute undersea warfare education and training for over 30,000 sailors at 9 different learning sites around the country, including Pearl Harbor and Guam, with approximately 1,000 instructors. The intent of the Technology Showcase series is for SLC instructors to engage available training and/or education technology through exposure and to suggest technology recommendations for improving knowledge and/or skills transfer, capture, and/or retention. The Training Technology Showcase series will afford selected participants the opportunity to present current and emerging training innovations to help shape future learning technology focus of the Submarine Learning Center (SLC), Education and/or training innovations can include, but are not limited to, virtual and augmented reality simulations, mobile computing, open content, electronic books, gesture-based computing, adaptive learning, intelligent tutoring, increased automation and artificial intelligence simulation, and massive multiplayer online games (MMOG). Innovations may also encompass immersive virtual campus environments and distance learning as well as other educational innovations providing a flexible and powerful set of capabilities available to an instructor. Interested parties should submit a PDF abstract as follows: Contact information for Primary (and Secondary) Authors Biography for Primary (and Secondary) Authors (200 word limit) Abstract Title (10 words or fewer) Abstract Text (1000 word limit) (website links not counted) No more than five (5) 8 ½ x 11 pages Interested parties should provide pdf abstracts no later than June 30, 2018 to: Mr. Kevin P. Correll: kevin.correll@navy.mil Submitted abstracts must describe how the potential participants ™ novel and innovative training technologies address one or more of the following factors: Distance Learning enabler: Describe how the proposed training technology supports distance learning (one-to-one, one-to-many, many-to-many) over multiple geographical locations; and, enables the perception of being physically present in a non-physical world (e.g., photo realistic avatars). Efficient Knowledge Transfer: Describe how the proposed technology enhances student learning, increases knowledge comprehension, and/or increases instructor effectiveness. Gaming functionality: Describe how the proposed technology supports individual and/or competitive gaming. Data Analytics: Describe how the proposed training technology captures/provides data analysis (e.g., but not limited to, student or team performance (e.g., scores, participation, etc.). Interoperability/Integration: Describe how the proposed technology enables the communication and exchange of data between the proposed technology and other technologies, systems, or products. System Trainer Virtualization: Describe how the proposed technology enables the virtualization of a system trainer (operator or team) over a network (e.g., in a virtual campus). Proposed Training Technology Demonstration(s) If known, instructors who would benefit most from seeing the technology demo? (e.g., technical, mechanical, etc.) The Government shall evaluate and prioritize submitted abstracts in light of stated factors and select ten (10) abstracts describing training technologies of most interest to the Government. Authors of selected abstracts shall be notified of selection on or about July 15 2018. Depending on subject content, each Selectee will be presented an opportunity to brief and/or demonstrate their training technologies during a Training Technology Showcase series event typically scheduled for the third Wednesday of each month, at Naval Submarine Base, Groton, CT. Only one Selectee at a time shall be invited to participate in a Training Technology Showcase series event. Thus, notification to abstract authors will also include proposed brief/demonstration date consistent with the third Wednesday of each month for a Training Technology Showcase series event. THIS NOTICE IS FOR MARKET RESEARCH KNOWLEDGE SHARING ONLY AND IS NOT A COMMITMENT BY THE GOVERNMENT TO PROCURE ANY ITEMS OR SERVICES, NOR FOR THE GOVERNMENT TO PAY FOR THE INFORMATION RECEIVED.
