Description
The National Institute of Standards and Technology in Boulder, CO has a requirement for a High Stability Polarization-Maintaining Ytterbium-Doped Amplifers (PM YDFA) per the specifications below. **THIS IS A SOURCES SOUGHT ONLY AND NOT A REQUEST FOR QUOTATION ** If your company is interested and able to meet the specifications, please send your capabilities documentation to Aron Krischel at aron.krischel@nist.gov. Your capabilities documentation is due no later than May 31, 2018 at 2:00 pm MST. The capablities documentation must show evidence that your company is able to meet the required specifications. No phone calls will be accepted regarding this sources sought. If there are any questions, they shall be in writing by email. SPECIFICATIONS High stability PM YDFA BACKGROUND: NIST research is focused on developing next-generation optical tools for laser frequency comb spectroscopy. PURPOSE: The work in the generation of optical frequency combs requires state-of-the-art high-power optical amplifiers capable of amplifying broadband optical signals from 0-10 mW up to 2000 mW. In addition, it requires high stability and pulse fidelity and a short optical path length with high path-length stability as well as linear polarization. To achieve the needed stability for the NIST application, a set of specific construction specifications are laid out. DELIVERABLES: Two polarization-maintaining ytterbium-doped fiber amplifiers as specified below. TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS: Optical Amplifier Specifications: · Output power of +33 dBm in wavelength range 1060-1090 nm at 0 dBm input. · Input power range of -10 to 0 dBm. · Output power stability of < 3%. · Polarization maintaining, with polarization extinction ratio > 15 dB. · Input and output fibers PANDA with FC/APC connectors. · Signal input isolation ≥ 25 dB. Amplifier Construction Specifications: · The amplifier optical path shall be no more than 15 meters from input fiber facet to output fiber facet. · The major heat-producing electronic components, specifically the pump diode, pump diode driver, and computer interface, shall be housed separately from the fiber optics which comprise the amplifier. The electronics housing and optics housing shall be connected by a shielded cable that is eye-safe and no less than 1.25 meters in length. · The optical fiber in the amplifier shall be actively temperature stabilized to better than ± 0.15 K. · The amplifier shall provide automatic protection against input signal loss. Other Specifications: · The optical housing shall have a foot print no larger than 220 mm x 220 mm. · Supplied with 21-28 VDC · Controlled via RS232 and USB TECHNICAL CONSIDERATIONS: The optical amplifier specifications and construction specifications are key to the operation of the systems in which these amplifiers will be integrated. DELIVERABLE SCHEDULE: Delivery shall be within 9 weeks after receipt of order.
