Description
The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, New England District will be issuing an Invitation for Bid (IFB) for a Spot Painting project, located at the Sawyer River #3, Sawyer River Road, White Mountain Forest in Livermore, New Hampshire. This will be a Small Business set-aside. The NAICS code for the work is 238320. The Solicitation is planned to be issued in June 2018, and will be for a firm fixed price contract. The construction period will extend over Summer and Fall 2018. The estimated magnitude of this project is between $100,000 and $250,000. Contractor should note that work on this project will require fall protection. The Sawyer River Bridge #3 is approximately 15 feet above the underlying stream bed. No traffic control is necessary, as this bridge is not open to the public. This project consists of the following components: -Construct a suspended work platform underneath the bridge, or construct scaffolding resting on the stream bed to access substructure components. Use of a snooper truck is impracticable. -Use solvents to clean the surfaces to receive paint. -Use a chipping hammer or wire brush to break up and remove failed paint in localized spots only. No scraping of the existing coating system will be permitted due to the presence of lead. The percent of failed paint to be removed and re-painted is estimated to be about 40% of the total surface area of the bridge components. The bridge has a timber driving surface and side rails. Components needing spot painting include the substructure only. -Apply primer and top coats of paint to the places where the paint has failed only. This is not a request for bids at this time; the solicitation requirements and contract documents to include instructions for submission and the response date will be available on or about June 2018. Neither telephonic, mailed nor faxed requests for hard copies of this solicitation will be accepted. The solicitation will only be available online; in order to download the solicitation offerors must access the Federal Business Opportunities website (www.fbo.gov). All responsible sources may submit a bid which shall be considered by the New England District. Additional questions may be emailed to the Contract Specialist at Jessica.R.Loc@usace.army.mil.
