Description
Herbicide Spraying at Elk Ranch (Base Item & Three Option Items) Grand Teton National Park; Teton County, WY Amendment-0001 NOTE: Per issuance of this solicitation Amendment, the hour and date specified for receipt of quotes IS NOT extended. Quotes submitted in response to Combined Synopsis/Solicitation 140P1418Q0061 are due by 05/10/2018 at 1300 hours MDT. Contractor acknowledgement of this Amendment is required. The purpose of this amendment is to inform all interested parties of Solicitation related questions (asked by Contractors) and answers (provided by the Government). A. Solicitation Questions/Answers 1. Question: "Would you consider proposals for sheep/goat grazing as a green alternative to chemical based weed control? It is a practice that is increasing in success." Answer: No. In these hayfields units the Park does not wish to use animals (e.g., sheep/goats) due to the potential trampling of young seedlings. Additionally, since native vegetation is present on these sites, the selective feeding on only noxious weed species by the grazers would need to be tested prior to using them. Further testing would have to be performed to ensure the animal grazers would consume the full suite of noxious weeds present at each site. Therefore, these issues would have to be resolved and demonstrated success of grazers treating all noxious species present would have to be established prior to consideration of this treatment option.
