- Description
- Nitrogen Generator The purpose of the Amendment is to answer submitted questions. No other questions will be accepted. QUESTION: Does this instrument is to be connected to a supply of oil free compressed air (house air) or does it need an internal compressor? ANSWER: The system needs an internal compressor. QUESTION: Any additional filters being used after the air compressor? (Dryers or water separators) ANSWER: Yes. It is important to note that we require a nitrogen generator with an internal compressor since the house compressor will not be able to supply air at high enough pressure for most nitrogen membrane filters. Following the nitrogen generator, gas will pass through an Agilent big universal trap (RMSN-4) to remove hydrocarbons, oxygen, carbon dioxide, carbon monoxide, and moisture. QUESTION: What size air compressor do they have? (CFM, gallon storage tank, horsepower, PSI) ANSWER: It has previously been determined that we will need a nitrogen generator with an internal compressor. House air compressor does not provide air at high enough pressure for nitrogen membrane filters. (CFM: N/A; gallon storage tank: N/A; horsepower: N/A; PSI: less than 80 PSI) QUESTION: How many LCMS systems will need nitrogen? ANSWER: We need to be able to supply 2 LCMS systems with the nitrogen. QUESTION: What should the Nitrogen Purity be? ANSWER: The purity of nitrogen needs to be greater than or equall to 99.5%. QUESTION: Please expand on "Continuous;" will it be used 24/7? ANSWER: Nitrogen will be pulled from the supply continuously (24/7) at differing flow rates. QUESTION: We don ¿t have a source for 60 gallon tanks, would 80 Gallon tank be okay? If yes, horizontal or vertical or does it matter? ANSWER: An 80 gallon tank would be okay, but there would be size limitations due to available floor space. Because of this, a vertical tank would likely be needed. QUESTION: Can you please provide a brief description on what the nitrogen will be used for? ANSWER: The nitrogen will be used in ionization sources for liquid chromatography/mass spectrometry.
