SCOPE: Statement of Work for BenchMark ULTRA Full System Pathology & Laboratory Medicine Service STVHCS 1. Introduction & Background The purpose of this Statement of Work (SOW) is to outline the need for a purchase order for the BenchMark Ultra Full System Stainer in the Histology Department of the Pathology & Laboratory Medicine Service at STVHCS. The instrument performs the automated process of batch staining tissue slides with special chemicals resulting in organisms in the tissue showing up various colors. The slides are labeled with an accession number. The stainer does not interface with VISTA or any other equipment. The server only stores and tracks the various staining protocols used for the various types of tissue. This instrument collects and uses absolutely no PHI. This enables our pathologists to view the slides microscopically and make diagnoses and use our anonymous tracking system that is standard in all histology laboratories. This instrument would be used daily in processing patient anatomic pathology specimens. 2. Scope This instrument is an addition to the BenchMark Ultra we currently have and would match our current QM process and supply ordering for stains, etc. **Equipment must be Roche model 05842689001** b.   Information Systems Officer, Information Protection:   The contractor will not have access to VA Desktop computers nor will they have access to online resources belonging to the government while conducting services.   c.   Privacy Officer:   The contractor will not have access to Patient Health Information (PHI) nor will they have the capability of accessing patient information during the services provided to the VA. d.   Records Manager:   There will be no federal records created, maintained, used or dispositioned with this contract; regardless of format [paper, electronic, etc.] or mode of transmission [e-mail, fax, etc.].
