Description
The Naval Medical Logistics Command has a requirement for two (2) Automatic Surface Tape Applicators (ASTA). The ASTA units shall be capable of applying surface saver tape (via air pressure) to the front of ophthalmic lenses, in order to protect the lenses during surface block alloy applications (i.e. generating and cutting blank lenses to prescription, and polishing lenses). The ASTA units shall include dual lens-taping heads capable of taping right and left lenses simultaneously. The ASTA units shall also be capable of taping single right lens and single left lens. Additionally, the taping heads shall tape lenses at a minimum of 82 mm in diameter. The units shall be capable of automatically centering and cutting tape with a carbide blade at lens blank edges. The units shall be capable of utilizing lined or unlined surface saver tape rolls. The ASTA units shall be able to accommodate the following workload parameters: Workload per Unit - hourly Quantity - 300 lens pairs The ASTA units shall have tabletop design (33.5″L x 18″W). The units shall be installed and connected to the air and power supplies of the existing lens taping stations. The power requirements are 240 VAC, 50 Hz.
