Description
The U.S. Army Medical Research Acquisition Activity (USAMRAA) intends to award a Firm Fixed Price sole source purchase order on behalf of the U.S. Army Medical Research Institute of Infectious Diseases (USAMRIID), the United States Army Center for Environmental Health Research (USACEHR), and the Naval Medical Research Center (NMRC) to Curtis Bay Energy, Inc. located at 3200 Hawkins Point Road, Baltimore, MD 21226 under the authority as prescribed in FAR Subpart 13.5, Only one responsible source reasonably available that will satisfy agency requirements. This requirement is for the removal and incineration of Regulated Medical Waste (RMW) at Fort Detrick. Curtis Bay Medical Waste Services is regulated by the State of Maryland Department of the Environment (MDE) and the Code of Maryland Regulations (COMAR.) This facility is permitted to process Special Medical Waste (SMW) using a highly controlled combustion technology to safely and efficiently thermally oxidize all types of SMW. This company complies with the disposal provisions of MEDCOM Regulation 40-35, Management of Regulated Medical Waste, and is certified to collect, remove, and incinerate the following categories of RMW: * Pathological waste. * Human Blood and Blood Products. * Cultures and Stocks of Infectious Agents. ( Including Microbiological Waste in Biosafety Levels 1, 2, 3, and 4). * Contaminated Sharps. * Isolation Waste. * Contaminated Animal Carcasses, Body Parts, and Bedding. This is a notice of intent to issue this solicitation on a sole source basis. This notice of intent is NOT a request for quotations (RFQ). Any other firms desiring consideration must fully identify their interest and capability to provide these services no later than May 7th, 2018 to the individual listed below. A determination by the Government not to compete this proposed contract based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government. Interested persons may identify their interest in writing, to the Government point of contact. Responses to this notice must be received no later than 11:00am Eastern Standard Time, May 7th, 2018.
