Minimum Requirements MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS FOR Grissom Bus Printed Circuit Board Connectors and Harnesses GENERAL This specification is for Printed Circuit Board (PCB) connectors and harnesses that will provide electrical connection for the Air Force Institute of Technology (AFIT) Grissom CubeSat Bus. The board connectors and harnesses required shall be composed of three different types of positions: nine, fifteen, and thirty-one. I. Nine Position/Contacts A. The PCB Connector, shown in Figure 1 in Appendix A, shall: 1. Be a minimum quantity of 21 connectors, part number MNPO-09-AA-N-ETH-M 2. Have 9 male/pin contacts 3. Use surface mount pins 4. Have the surface mount pins be two rows, where 5 pins are near the body of the connector, and the remaining 4 pins 0.05 inches away from those 5 pins 5. Have the rows, listed under I.A.4, be 0.05 inches apart 6. Have the distance between the surface mount pins be 0.025 inches 7. Have an overall size of the connector be 0.375 x 0.345 x 0.140 inches (W x L x H) a. The body of the connector shall: i. Have dimensions of 0.375 x 0.240 x 0.140 inches (W x L x H) ii. Have a cutout for the surface mount pins be 0.170 x 0.125 x 0.140 inches (W x L x H) iii. Have two #0-80 threaded holes used for mechanical support with the PCB 0.187 inches away from the front facing side of the connector's body iv. Have those two threaded holes, listed under I.A.7.a.iii, 0.270 inches away from each other b. The front facing of the connector shall: i. Have the mating portion of the connector ii. Have two #0-80 threaded holes used for harness mechanical support on each side of the mating portion of the connector iii. Have those two threaded holes, listed under I.A.7.b.ii, 0.270 inches away from each other c. The mating portion of the connector shall: i. Have the 9 male/pin contacts current rated for a maximum of 1 Amp per pin, as stated in the MIL-DTL-32139 ii. Have the 9 male/pin contacts resistance rated for a maximum of 71 mOhms at 1.0 Amp per pin, as stated in the MIL-DTL-32139 iii. Have the 9 male/pin contacts be made of gold plated beryllium copper 8. Have the housing made of aluminum 6061-T6 9. Have the insulator made of liquid crystal polymer B. The Open-Ended Harnesses, shown in Figure 2 in Appendix A, shall: 1. Be a minimum quantity of 3 open-ended harnesses, part number MNSO-09-WD-18.0-N-EJS-C 2. Have the connector on one side only, while the other side is only loose wires 3. Mate with the connector listed under I.A 4. Include 2 screws used to mate with the connector listed under I.A.7.b.ii 5. Have the included screws, listed under I.B.4, made of 303 stainless steel 6. Have 9 female/socket contacts 7. Have Teflon coated wires 8. Have color coded wires 9. Have wire length of 18.0 inches 10. Have an overall size of the harness connector 0.375 x 0.225 x 0.125 inches (W x L x H) 11. Have the housing made of aluminum 6061-T6 12. Have the 9 female/socket contacts made of gold plated copper alloy 13. Have the 9 female/socket contacts current rated for a maximum of 1 Amp per pin, as stated in the MIL-DTL-32139 14. Have the 9 female/socket contacts current rated for a maximum of 71 mOhms at 1.0 Amp per pin, as stated in the MIL-DTL-32139 15. Have the insulator made of liquid crystal polymer C. The One-to-One Harnesses, shown in Figure 2 in Appendix A, shall: 1. Have wire length of 7.9 inches, part number JUM-09-MNSO-MNSO-WD-7.9-N-EJS-C a. Be a minimum quantity of 8 7.9 inches one-to-one harnesses 2. Have wire length of 18.0 inches, part number JUM-09-MNSO-MNSO-WD-18.0-N-EJS-C a. Be a minimum quantity of 8 18.0 inches one-to-one harnesses 3. Have the connector on both sides 4. Have contacts be connected one-to-one 5. Mate with the connector listed under I.A 6. Include 4 screws used to mate with the connector listed under I.A.7.b.ii, 2 per connector 7. Have the included screws, listed under I.C.6, made of 303 stainless steel 8. Have 9 female/socket contacts 9. Have Teflon coated wires 10. Have color coded wires 11. Have an overall size of the harness connector 0.375 x 0.225 x 0.125 inches (W x L x H) 12. Have the housing made of aluminum 6061-T6 13. Have the 9 female/socket contacts made of gold plated copper alloy 14. Have the 9 female/socket contacts current rated for a maximum of 1 Amp per pin, as stated in the MIL-DTL-32139 15. Have the 9 female/socket contacts current rated for a maximum of 71 mOhms at 1.0 Amp per pin, as stated in the MIL-DTL-32139 16. Have the insulator made of liquid crystal polymer II. Fifteen Position/Contacts A. The PCB Connector, shown in Figure 3 in Appendix A, shall: 1. Be a minimum quantity of 6 connectors, part number MNSO-15-AA-N-ETH-M 2. Have 15 female/socket contacts 3. Use surface mount pins 4. Have the surface mount pins be two rows, where 8 pins are near the body of the connector, and the remaining 7 pins 0.05 inches away from those 8 pins 5. Have the rows, listed under II.A.4, be 0.05 inches apart 6. Have the distance between the surface mount pins be 0.025 inches 7. Have an overall size of the connector be 0.450 x 0.345 x 0.140 inches (W x L x H) a. The body of the connector shall: i. Have dimensions of 0.450 x 0.225 x 0.140 inches (W x L x H) ii. Have two #0-80 threaded holes used for mechanical support with the PCB 0.187 inches away from the front facing side of the connector's body Have those two threaded holes, listed under II.A.7.a.ii, 0.345 inches away from each other b. The front facing of the connector shall: i. Have the mating portion of the connector ii. Have two #0-80 threaded holes used for harness mechanical support on each side of the mating portion of the connector iii. Have those two threaded holes, listed under II.A.7.b.ii, 0.345 inches away from each other c. The mating portion of the connector shall: i. Have the 15 female/socket contacts current rated for a maximum of 1 Amp per pin, as stated in the MIL-DTL-32139 ii. Have the 15 female/socket contacts resistance rated for a maximum of 71 mOhms at 1.0 Amp per pin, as stated in the MIL-DTL-32139 iii. Have the 15 female/socket contacts be made of gold plated copper alloy 8. Have the housing made of aluminum 6061-T6 9. Have the insulator made of liquid crystal polymer B. Have the 15 male/pin contacts current rated for a maximum of 71 mOhms at 1.0 Amp per pin, as stated in the MIL-DTL-32139 15. Have the insulator made of liquid crystal polymer C. The One-to-One Harnesses, shown in Figure 4 in Appendix A, shall: 1. Be a minimum quantity of 8 one-to-one harnesses, part number JUM-15-MNPO-MNPO-WD-18.0-N-EJS-C 2. Have the connector on both sides 3. Have contacts be connected one-to-one 4. Mate with the connector listed under II.A 5. Include 4 screws used to mate with the connector listed under II.A.7.b.ii, 2 per connector 6. Have the included screws, listed under II.C.5, made of 303 stainless steel 7. Have 15 male/pin contacts 8. Have Teflon coated wires 9. Have color coded wires 10. Have wire length of 18.0 inches 11. Have an overall size of the harness connector 0.450 x 0.210 x 0.125 inches (W x L x H) 12. Have the housing made of aluminum 6061-T6 13. Have the 15 male/pin contacts made of gold plated beryllium copper 14. Have the 15 male/pin contacts current rated for a maximum of 1 Amp per pin, as stated in the MIL-DTL-32139 15. Have the 15 male/pin contacts current rated for a maximum of 71 mOhms at 1.0 Amp per pin, as stated in the MIL-DTL-32139 16. Have the insulator made of liquid crystal polymer III. Thirty-One Position/Contacts A. The PCB Connector, shown in Figure 5 in Appendix A, shall: 1. Be a minimum quantity of 16 connectors, part number MNSO-31-AA-N-ETH-M 2. Have 31 female/socket contacts 3. Use surface mount pins 4. Have the surface mount pins be two rows, where 16 pins are near the body of the connector, and the remaining 15 pins 0.05 inches away from those 16 pins 5. Have the rows, listed under III.A.4, be 0.05 inches apart 6. Have the distance between the surface mount pins be 0.025 inches 7. Have an overall size of the connector be 0.650 x 0.345 x 0.140 inches (W x L x H) a. The body of the connector shall: i. Have dimensions of 0.650 x 0.225 x 0.140 inches (W x L x H) ii. Have two #0-80 threaded holes used for mechanical support with the PCB 0.187 inches away from the front facing side of the connector's body iii. Have those two threaded holes, listed under III.A.7.a.ii, 0.545 inches away from each other b. The front facing of the connector shall: i. Have the mating portion of the connector ii. Have two #0-80 threaded holes used for harness mechanical support on each side of the mating portion of the connector iii. Have those two threaded holes, listed under III.A.7.b.ii, 0.545 inches away from each other c. The mating portion of the connector shall: i. Have the 31 female/socket contacts current rated for a maximum of 1 Amp per pin, as stated in the MIL-DTL-32139 ii. Have the 31 female/socket contacts resistance rated for a maximum of 71 mOhms at 1.0 Amp per pin, as stated in the MIL-DTL-32139 iii. Have the 31 female/socket contacts be made of gold plated copper alloy 8. Have the housing made of aluminum 6061-T6 9. Have the insulator made of liquid crystal polymer B. The Open-Ended Harnesses, shown in Figure 6 in Appendix A, shall: 1. Be a minimum quantity of 3 open-ended harnesses, part number MNPO-31-WD-18.0-N-EJS-C 2. Have the connector on one side only, while the other side is only loose wires 3. Mate with the connector listed under III.A 4. Include 2 screws used to mate with the connector listed under III.A.7.b.ii 5. Have the included screws, listed under III.B.4, made of 303 stainless steel 6. Have 31 male/pin contacts 7. Have Teflon coated wires 8. Have color coded wires 9. Have wire length of 18.0 inches 10. Have an overall size of the harness connector 0.650 x 0.210 x 0.125 inches (W x L x H) 11. Have the housing made of aluminum 6061-T6 12. Have the 31 male/pin contacts made of gold plated beryllium copper 13. Have the 31 male/pin contacts current rated for a maximum of 1 Amp per pin, as stated in the MIL-DTL-32139 14. Have the 31 male/pin contacts current rated for a maximum of 71 mOhms at 1.0 Amp per pin, as stated in the MIL-DTL-32139 15. Have the insulator made of liquid crystal polymer C. The One-to-One Harnesses, shown in Figure 6 in Appendix A, shall: 1. Be a minimum quantity of 8 one-to-one harnesses, part number JUM-31-MNPO-MNPO-WD-11.8-N-EJS-C 2. Have the connector on both sides 3. Have contacts be connected one-to-one 4. Mate with the connector listed under III.A 5. Include 4 screws used to mate with the connector listed under III.A.7.b.ii, 2 per connector 6. Have the included screws, listed under III.C.5, made of 303 stainless steel 7. Have 31 male/pin contacts 8. Have Teflon coated wires 9. Have color coded wires 10. Have wire length of 11.8 inches 11. Have an overall size of the harness connector 0.650 x 0.210 x 0.125 inches (W x L x H) 12. Have the housing made of aluminum 6061-T6 13. Have the 31 male/pin contacts made of gold plated beryllium copper 14. Have the 31 male/pin contacts current rated for a maximum of 1 Amp per pin, as stated in the MIL-DTL-32139 15. Have the 31 male/pin contacts current rated for a maximum of 71 mOhms at 1.0 Amp per pin, as stated in the MIL-DTL-32139 16. Have the insulator made of liquid crystal polymer The board connectors and harnesses shall comply with MIL-DTL-32139 standard. Dimensions and distances shall be within 0.01 inches. Workmanship shall be consistent with best commercial practices and be free of defects and major flaws. DELIVERABLES Contractor shall provide the listed sets of connectors with their mating harnesses. Quantities of each item are listed in the requirements and shall be met by the contractor. PERIOD OF PERFORMANCE The contractor shall deliver the connectors and harnesses within 9 weeks after receipt of contract. DELIVERY The contractor shall ship the connectors and harnesses to the Air Force Institute of Technology at WPAFB, OH. Great care using standard, approved packaging methods shall be taken.
