FBO Description The Minneapolis VA Health Care System has a need for experienced organists to perform during services on various days of the week, including Sundays. There are approximately twenty-four (24) services a month (290 per year) which need to be covered in the VA chapel, located at the Minneapolis VA Medical Center (1 Veteran s Drive, Minneapolis, MN 55417) These services range from Inter-Denominational Christian Services to Roman Catholic Masses. Also, there are Healing Services, secular music for Memorial Services and national holidays, Exposition and Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament, Stations of the Cross, as well as various holy days. The services last in varying lengths of time, but on average about 35 minutes per actual service. This does not include the prep time, etc. The organist should be versed in the musical repertory of different Christian denominations and understand the musical needs of various Christian groups. The organist must be proficient in playing the organ, key board, and/or other instruments. The organist works with the individual chaplains in choosing music, and must be able to work with different personalities and tastes. The organist should be versed in English and Latin music, and be able to lead the music for the services. Solicitation to be posted within the next 24 to 48 hours.
