- Description
- Revised Statement of Work Amendment 1 The purpose of this amendment is to answer questions and incorporate a revised statement of work. As a result of this amendment, the Statement of Work is deleted and replaced with Revision 1, Dated 28 Mar 18. Questions and Answers 1) Please define, Surface Danger Zone (SDZ) and Vertical Danger Zone (VDZ) or provide reference. a. Vertical Danger Zone (VDZ): For non-contained and partially contained ranges, the VDZ is the volume of airspace above the SDZ between the ground surface and the maximum ordinate of a direct-fired or ricochet round. The height of the VDZ varies with the weapon and ammunition fired (see Attachment 1). For fully contained ranges, the VDZ is the area between the SDZ and the upper limits of containment. b. Surface Danger Zone (SDZ): The portions of the range in the horizontal plane that are endangered by firing a particular weapon. The SDZ includes the area between the firing line and the target line, an impact area, a ricochet trajectory area, and a secondary danger area. The SDZ may also include a weapon back-blast area. The SDZ must be located completely within the boundaries of U.S. government owned or leased properties. A fully contained range which is incapable of allowing a fired projectile to escape its limits does not have an exterior SDZ. 2) Provide product information on the frangible ammunition to be used. a. The Government currently utilizes Speer.357 100 Grain Frangible Ammunition. Projectiles made of sintered copper (powdered copper) projectile with clean burning propellant and CCI primer. 3) Provide maximum rifle caliber to be used on the range. a..223/5.56mm. 4) The Range is to provide sweeping equipment and collection container for spent casings, is it the intent of the authority to collect and keep the spent brass casings used? a. The range will provide tools for FAMS personnel to clean up the range (broom handled squeegees, 5 gallon bucket, handled dust pan, etc.) after each shooting session. The range will then be responsible for final disposition of brass casings and shooting byproducts. 5) Is there an incumbent? If so, what was the dollar value of that contract? a. This is a new requirement.
