- Description
- The Product Manager Soldier Clothing and Individual Equipment (PM SCIE), Personnel Airdrop Team, Natick, MA is conducting market research on candidate Enhanced Electronic Automatic Activation Device (EEAAD) systems. The EEAAD is a response to a need identified by the U.S. Army for an improved automatic activation device system that activates a parachutist's reserve parachute automatically in the event of a malfunction with the main canopy or with a disabled parachutist during airborne operations using ram-air parachute systems. The EEAAD is a safety device, intended for use by parachutists executing either High Altitude Low Opening (HALO) or High Altitude High Opening (HAHO) jumps, which activates a parachutist's reserve parachute automatically in the event the parachutist is unable to activate the reserve parachute at the intended altitude, or loss of altitude awareness. Currently teams and the Military Freefall School are using the Military CYPRES Automatic Activation Device; however, the Military CYPRES must be returned to the manufacturer to recover flight performance data in the case of an incident and for battery replacement. The EEAAD is required to record data after exit from the aircraft and activate the reserve canopy deployment sequence when activation criteria are met. The device will collect operational data to include the total number of operations, number of operations since the last download, exit altitudes, terminal speeds, changes in speed, opening shock and parachute deployment altitude.. The EEAAD will allow flight and maintenance data to be read at the unit level by maintainers, using only Army fielded equipment, and will not be subject to premature or inadvertent activation from electromagnetic environmental effects. PM SCIE invites potential Offerors to participate in an Industry Day (ID) which will be hosted at Natick Soldier Systems Center, Natick, MA on Tuesday, 10 April 2018 from 0900 to 1200 (Eastern) with 30 minute private breakout sessions available from 1300 to 1530 (Eastern). The Industry Day will consist of a requirement overview briefing with particular focus on performance requirements, configuration management and cyber-security requirements, a Question & Answer session and individual breakout sessions, if desired and as time allows. Due to resource demands and time limitations, requests will be fulfilled on a first come, first serve basis. Questions from interested vendors shall be submitted by 1400EST on Tuesday, 3 April 2018, to the PM SCIE POC below, to provide the Government adequate time to respond. Government responses will be provided at the Industry Day. Registration for this event can be accomplished via the "Register for Industry Day" button.
