Synopsis: The Purpose of this amendment is to post questions submitted during the solicitation period of this requirement. Please find questions asked, and responses provided. *AGENCY RESPONSES ARE IN RED Question 1: How long can an area go without any handrails? In other words, if the metal fabricator can do 30 LF per day, are we only allowed to have the demo guy remove 30 LF per day? Answer: This would be the case unless the contractor had a way to secure the falling hazard another way that would meet patient safety guidelines. Question 2: Will gates also need to be replaced? Answer: Yes, Any gates that are in place now have to be replaced. The gate will be made of the same material as the replacement rails. Question 3: Will we need to figure on any concrete repair on this project? If you look at picture attached IMG 2153 & IMG 2151 it looks like concrete was replaced. Answer: If in removing any existing railing, the concrete would have to be repaired if damaged. Question 4: There are several types of rails we saw in the pictures. See attached. Are we replacing all existing rails with the picket style new rails? Answer: All rails need to match existing replaced rails at the back of building 22 (see pictures IMG 2151, and IMG 2153) The solicitation is to replace ALL other railing and gates around the facility. The only exceptions are the back of building 22, the loading docks on building 7 and 100. Question 5: Do you if we will need to me welding it down or core drilling when setting the rails? Answer: The contractor will need to match the new existing railing that is currently in place on the west side of building 22. If welding is necessary on station, a full assessment as to what risks are involved and patient safety precautions would have to performed before project start. Question 6: Do you know if we will need to remove the old railing from the job site when it is completed? Answer: Yes, contractor will be required to remove old handrailing from the job site. Question 7: The specification mentions the coating finish shall be "18 mil thickness" can you please verify that the 18 is correct or should it be "1.8" which is the industry standard. Answer: The coating requirement is 18 mils or 0.018 using fluidized bed coating process and a 50 mesh powder.
