- Page 1 of 1 The Department of Veterans Affairs, Northport VA Medical Center intends to negotiate on a sole source basis, pursuant to FAR 6.302-1, with Morrell Instruments for the Nikon NIE fully Motorized Microscope System to upgrade an existing Olympus Confocal Microscope IX81 - FV1000. Morrell is the sole distributer of the Nikon microscope who is only vendor who can offer live color with a large format sensor with a black and white camera enabling both imaging for histology and fluorescence with one detector by controlling a high output three led source for true 14 bit color representation in RGB. Additionally, Nikon has exclusive software and led system that allows for a black and white camera to capture color images allowing for prefect registration between channels. This notice of intent is not a request for competitive proposals; however, any responsible source who believes it is capable of meeting the requirement may submit a capability statement to the contracting office no later than Friday, March 23, 4:00, EST. Interest/capability statements may be sent to Lynn Portman at lynn.portman@va.gov. No telephone responses will be accepted. A determination not to compete the proposed requirement based upon the responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government.
