- General Scope The Contractor shall refurbish and modify the thrust bearing shoes for units 1, 2, 3, 4, and 5 for Wolf Creek Dam. In so much as practicable and in conformance with these specifications, the modified thrust bearing shoes shall be identical to units 4 and 6 at Wolf Creek Powerhouse. Installation of thrust bearing shoes, disassembly of units, and assembly of units will be performed by the Government. The Contractor shall arrange round-trip pickup and delivery of the thrust bearing shoes. Period of performance of this contract shall not exceed 350 calendar days from date of award. Under a separate contract, the Government has purchased and shall be installing new high pressure lift systems to work with the refurbished and modified thrust bearing shoes and new springs. Details regarding the high pressure lift system and springs are shown on the drawings for information only. Supply of springs shall be completed under a separate contract prior to this contract. System Description The thrust bearing consists of 12 steel-backed babbitt segments or shoes. For the purposes of this Specification, one "set" consists of 12 shoes. The babbitt is of a tin base. Dimensions, fits, and estimated weights are based on original design criteria and/or calculations, thus are provided for information only. The Contractor shall verify all provided dimensions, properties, and features in the solicitation documents. Survey The Government is issuing this to determine a competitive basis. This is not a solicitation and the items listed herein are subject to change or elimination from the requirement. This questionnaire is for market research purposes only.
