- Market research and investigation is being conducted by the Defense Logistics Agency, Troop Support, Clothing and Textiles Directorate to seek domestic sources Foam or Inner spring Mattresses and Covers as described below (for foam - dimensions valid for inner spring). Delivery will be to Norfolk, VA. 850 mattresses and 1,700 covers are due to Norfolk by April 15 th, an additional 2,400 mattresses and 2,400 covers are due to Norfolk by April 30 th. MATTRESS, SGL 32"W x 79"L x 6"D, (813mmW x 2007mm x 152.4mmD) High density lumbar support mattress, Two (2) layers of highly compressed foam. BOTTOM LAYER shall be of a single piece of LH-28 foam (1.5 Density, 28 ILD). UPPER LAYER shall consist of 3 parts: The head and foot of the mattress shall be of a super soft S17S foam (1.5 Density 17 ILD) and the center, lumbar, section shall be of R45 foam (1.8 Density, 45 ILD). Mattress shall at a minimum meet the FeSPE1c1deral Flammability Standard FF-4-72 (part 1632) and the foam shall meet at a minimum the California 117 Flammability Standard. Foam thickness of mattress: The Thickness of each of the layers (bottom, and upper layer) is to be 3 ". The foam core has three (3) sections (head, foot and lumbar) and sizes of the sections are to be 20" for the head, 39" for the lumbar and 20" for the foot section. MATTRESS COVER SGL, 32 ¼" W x 79"L x 6"D, (819mmW x 2007mmL x162mmD). External lining: Two (2) covers per mattress with a grade quality of 100% fire-retardant fabric meeting EN ISO 12952-1+2 Test and EN 14533 "A" classification fire testing standards. "Smocking" woven 210g per m2; elastic in vertical and horizontal direction; anti-allergic, anti-acarus; Interlined/Wadding: 100% fire-retardant polyester wadding, 200-300g per m2 / 15mm thick; 2 nd interline/backing: backing in white 100% polyester fabric, 80-100g per m2 elastic in vertical and horizontal direction, anti-allergic, anti-acarus. Quilting: horizontal 'strip" quilting every 8cm; Edging ribbon: white edging ribbon, 38 mm high, 65% polyester and 35% cotton, sewed all around; Zipper : white zipper, 65% polyester and 35% cotton with polyester teeth on one headside plus 30cm on each lateral side in order to facilitate the insertion of the mattress; zipper completely inserted by a double seam. Threads : Thread used for quilting "Cottonpol 120IDS". Thread used for sewing the zipper and edging ribbon "Polyester F 1/50". Fire retardment: The complete mattress cover is IAW with the American Federal Standard DOC FF4-72 16 CFR PART 1632. Mattress cover must be designed for repeated washing and drying with minimal shrinkage of material for repeated use. The mattress cover must always be tight fitting, before and after washing and drying. The external lining and backing must be made of elastic fabrics as identified above.
