- Attachment 1 - Electron Beam Welding This Request for Information (RFI) is in support of market research being conducted by the Naval Surface Warfare Center Carderock Division (NSWCCD) to identify vendors who possess the ability to perform or are interesting in obtaining the ability to perform electron-beam welding. This is the initiation of market research under Part 10 of the Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) and is NOT a Request for Proposals (RFP). NSWCCD is seeking sources capable of providing electron-beam welding for canisters that are machined from continuous cast nickel aluminum bronze (NAB) and the end caps are NAB as well as firms who possess the ability or are interested in obtaining the ability to perform electron beam welding. Drawings can be provided to firms with an approved and valid DD Form 2345 as identified on joint certification program (firm must be approved on https://public.logisticsinformationservice.dla.mil/jcp/search.aspx ) Response Requirements: i) Responses to this RFI shall be submitted electronically to patricia.folts@navy.mil and Michael.peduto@navy.mil and contain the following information: •1. a) Whether the firm can perform electron beam welding presently? •2. b) What are the firm's capacity limitations for electron beam welding in terms of size of the machine and throughput? •3. c) What facility and safeguarding clearances does the firm possess? •4. d) Is your firm qualified to perform electron-beam welding? If not, how long would it take your firm to become qualified and develop the procedures to perform electron beam welding. Requirements of the welding procedure and qualification of the welding procedure are available as Attachment 1. ii) For firms without a facility or safeguarding clearance and/or firms that do not possess electron beam welding capabilities, please respond to the following: •A. a) What would it take for your firm to facilitize its facility to perform work up to the secret level? •B. b) Would your firm be willing to fund the facilitization expenses to perform up to the secret level on its own? •C. c) If applicable, is your firm considering procuring electron beam welding capabilities? If so, please address what type of capabilities you are considering. •D. d) Would you firm fund the procurement/facilitization costs to acquire the electron beam welding on its own? If not, what type of Government investment would be required. This RFI is solely for information and planning purposes only and does not constitute a solicitation or any commitment by the Government. All information received in response to this RFI that is marked as prop rarity will be handled accordingly. Responders are solely responsible for all expenses associated responding to this RFI. This RFI does not represent any obligation of the Government for any costs or expenditures associated with submitting a response to this request.
