Description
The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers - St. Paul District requires a qualified Marine Surveyor to perform annual condition inspection of the Dredge Goetz and the Quarters Barge Taggatz. The firm-fixed price (FFP) contract shall be for one year, with four option periods, exercisable by the Government. The Marine Surveyor shall be accredited by either the National Association of Marine Surveyors (NAMS) or the Society of Accredited Marine Surveyors (SAMS), and have at least five (5) years of experience in commerical marine plant and equipment. The Dredge Goetz is a non-self-propelled, cutterhead type of all welded steel construction. The vessel measures 200' in length, 39' breadth, 8' depth. Tonnage is unknown. The Quarters Barge Taggatz is non-self-propelled quarters barge of all welded steel construction, classed as an ABS Maltese Cross A1 Accomodation Barge, with 58 berths. The barge is 160' in length, 40' breadth, 11' 6" depth, with a gross tonnage of 1,167. Annual inspection surveys are required for each vessel while in working mode, per the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Safety and Health Requirements Manual, EM 385-1-1. Surveys will concentrate on the vessels' condition, safety equipment, and safety of crew onboard. A minimum of 8-10 ultrasonic measurements will be taken of each vessel's hull, in areas where hull plate deterioration is most advanced. Inspections will take place at the Fountain City, WI Service Base, while the vessels are being prepared for dredging season, between May 1 and 15. The Marine Surveyor shall submit a report to the Government within two weeks of the inspection. At a minimum, the report shall include a narrative of the inspection, maps of ultrasonic test locations, photographs of areas inspected, and a recommended course of action for deficiencies.
