Description
US EMBASSY NAIROBI INDUSTRY DAY FOR KOMBEWA MEDICAL CLINIC RENOVATIONS IN KISUMU, KENYA The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Europe District intends to issue a Request for Proposal (RFP) with intent to award one (1) Firm-Fixed-Price (FFP) design build contract for the structural repairs of the Kombewa medical lab. American Embassy Nairobi wishes to invite all interested, reputable and experienced contractors / vendors to attend an informational briefing related to the provision of the following services / goods: • Structural repairs will be required to the elevated floor slab and a concrete bond beam at one of the existing walls in the clinic. Details of the planned works are: o The prescribed repairs are to add structural steel elements below the elevated floor. o Cracks in the elevated concrete slab will be injected with epoxy. o The deficient concrete bond beam in the exterior wall will be replaced. o The exterior stairs will be demolished and replaced with new concrete stairs with code compliant treads and risers. o Architectural finishes should take place after structural repairs have been performed. • The clinic is located in the vicinity of coordinates: Latitude 0°06'13.6"S / Longitude 34°31'00.7"E. • Structural investigations have indicated that the elevated floor slab and an exterior bond beam were constructed using concrete with low and inconsistent compressive strengths. Subsequently, they are exhibiting signs of structural distress. Additionally, the existing exterior concrete stairs to the elevated floor were constructed with treads and risers that do not meet code requirements. • The Contractor shall deliver fully functional, turnkey type facilities (without furniture). The work includes but is not limited to design, demolition, fabrication, delivery, installation, construction, and site work. The facility and the installed equipment shall be permanent construction. The briefing will be held on Friday, 2 March 2018 at 10:00am at the Walter Reed Project Headquarters at the Kenya Medical Research Institute-Nairobi. Carry your original ID / License or Passport. The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers plans to execute this project via a design-build contract that includes both the engineering design and the construction of structural repairs in the scope of work. There is no requirement for an interested vendor / contractor to attend this informational briefing. The purpose of this briefing is for interested vendors / contractors to gain an understanding from U.S. Army Corps of Engineers personnel of the processes involved in the correct submittal of a proposal to perform the work. Discussions will focus on proposal submittal requirements, including formatting, length, content, contractual and legal ramifications, and the process through which the U.S. Government will review all submitted proposals and the method through which a single, qualified, responsible Offeror shall be selected to perform the required works. Any interested vendors / contractors making the arrangements to attend this briefing are under no obligation to do so; likewise, the U.S. Government will not provide compensation or reimbursement for any expenses incurred by interested vendors / contractors who make arrangements to and / or attend the briefing.
