Description
The Veterans Administration Central Texas Medical Center Research and Development Group intends to negotiate on a sole source basis with Bruker BioSpin Corporation to provide equipment and installation of their In-Vivo Xtreme II System. This equipment will be utilized to continue to support research projects currently being conducted at the Central Texas VA. This notice of intent is not a request for competitive proposals; however, any responsible source who believes it is capable of meeting the requirement may submit a capability statement to the contracting office no later than Tuesday, February 27, 2018, 4:00, EST. Interest/capability statements may be sent to Elaine DiBucci at elaine.dibucci@va.gov. No telephone responses will be accepted. A determination not to compete the proposed requirement based upon the responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government. System Design / Required Components The system must provide six imaging modalities in one footprint: fluorescence, luminescence, Cherenkov, Direct Radioisotopic allowing for imaging on non-Cherenkov emitting radionuclides (e.g. 99mTc probes), reflectance, and radiographic (X-ray) imaging. Produces quantitative easurements and flexible unit conversion including conversions for counts, p/s/cm2, pWatt/cm2, plus proprietary XD units facilitating bone density measurements. X-ray co-registration must be enabled for all imaging all modalities and FOVs. The system must use lockable casters for easy movement and maintenance. The system must provide a footprint less than or equal to than 92 cm deep x by 92 cm wide by 186 cm tall. Imager must support bottom-up imaging to provide a uniform flat focal plane and eliminate any shadowing between multiple samples. System must include unlimited user software licenses for analysis. Software analysis software must support image overlay, image data unit conversion, and ROI analysis tools. Optical Train The system camera must be a back-thinned, back-illuminated, 16-bit, Grade 1 CCD cooled to -90 °C. The camera must provide a sensor size of > 2.7 cm x 2.7 cm. The system must provide a read noise of < 3 e typical. The system must provide for 4MP camera for high resolution imaging AND 2, 4, 8, 16, and 32 binned imaging for high sensitivity imaging. The system must provide a pixel size of 13.5 um or larger on the sensor for high sensitivity imaging. The system must provide for a 27 um pixel size or larger when binned to 2 (equivalent to 1MP sensor). The lens must be f/1.1 or faster for high sensitivity acquisition have an adjustable aperture to f/16 for high depth of field reflectance imaging. The system must achieve < 60 photons/sec/cm2/Sr in minimal detectable radiance in a 5 min acquisition. The system must support a FOV of 19 cm x 19 cm for all imaging modalities. The system must achieve a pixel size of less than 35 um for high resolution ex vivo imaging. The system must utilize a 400W Xenon, 400-1000nm broad spectrum illumination source. The system must provide 28 excitation filters for excitation range of 400-780nm for excitation based spectral unmixing. Excitation based spectral unmixing must be provided standard with the system. The system must include wide angle emission filters for uniform rejection of excitation light at the center and edge of fluorescence images. X-ray system The system must be provided with an X-ray source with a current of 0.5 mA. The X-ray system have a microfocus X-ray head with a spot size of <60 um. A geometric magnification stage must be included standard with the instrument. The system must deliver an X-ray resolution >= 14 lp/mm on contact and >= 21 lp/mm with provided geometric magnification stage. The system must deliver a FOV of up to 19 cm x 19 cm. The system must be a fully energy calibrated X-ray. The system must deliver units of XD to the user automatically. The system must be able to co-register X-ray and optical signals with up to 5 mice at a time at a 19 x 19 cm FOV. The system must have an FDA and ASN European Safety Authority compliant radiation shielded cabinet. The X-ray system must provide >3 aluminum filtration options (0.1, 0.2, 0.4, 0.8mm) or optimizing contrast between bone and soft tissue. The system standard X-ray setting must produce a dose of < 0.3 mGy. The system must be suitable for X-ray imaging of animals with a transaxial depth of up to > 40cm. The system must be able to support Bone Mineral Density Software* for measuring CaPO4 density in specimen long bones. A minimal exposure time of 0.2 seconds in X-ray mode must be achievable to enable high temporal dynamic X-ray imaging Anesthesia System The anesthesia system must provide >99.9% of active chamber removal of waste gases. The animal imaging chamber must be equipped with HEPA filters and support SPF facilities. Must supply a 5 animal manifold with equal distribution of gas anesthesia. Rotation Imaging Must be able to support a mouse multimodal animal rotation system for 360 ° imaging for all system modalities.
