Description
Justification of a Brand Name The INL office in implementation of the project titled «Building Capacities of the Newly Established Anti-corruption Bodies in Investigation and Prosecution of High-level Corruption in Ukraine» is supporting the stand-up of the National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine (NABU) Forensic Unit, for which INL is requested to purchase additional new specific software which are: 1) BlackBag BlackLight software with Software Renewal for 36 months. BlackBag BlackLight software was selected due to significant fact that this software was developed by Mac and iOS forensic analysts as a comprehensive forensic software tool to help investigators conduct digital forensic investigations on Mac OS X computers, iPhones and iPads. With the growing number of cases where operating systems developed by Apple on iMacs, Macbooks, Time Capsules are encountered, the NABU has requested INL assistance in procurement of that specific software approved by NABU technicians. So far forensic examiners do not have any dedicated tool to process specific data obtained from Mac computers. And there are no analogs at the market for such forensic needs. Worth to mention that BlackBag provide free 2-day training for buyers. This brand forensic software is the most advanced tool known so far to work with Apple operating systems as well as their file systems; only this software can be installed on Mac computer that is available in the NABU lab to use specific forensic modules of the software. 2) Forensic Toolkit for SQLite software. The Forensic Toolkit for SQLite includes three comprehensive software applications: The Forensic Browser for SQLite, Forensic Recovery for SQLite and SQLite Forensic Explorer, which make recovering SQLite records from disk, image and database simpler and more intuitive. These tools are unique and specifically required by NABU forensic examiners and approved by Ukrainian Forensic Institution. 3) Additional five (5) X-Ways Forensics software packages. X-Ways Forensics software is already used as a core tool for examination by the NABU forensics. Due to the fact that forensic staff resources are limited the lab introduced self-service approach to allow investigators do easy examinations using functionality of X-Ways Forensics on PC-Kiosk. Such approach worked successfully. So the NABU requested assistance in procurement additional X-Ways Forensics software for this matter. X-Ways Forensics is an advanced work environment for computer forensic examiners. This brand forensic software fully meets required by the NABU characteristics.
