- Description
- This project is to remove an existing culvert (5' diameter CMP) and replace with an open bottom arch, multi-plate structure (16' span by 5'-3" rise) and stream simulation. Major work items include (but are not limited to) clearing and grubbing, site dewatering, removal and disposal of existing culvert and concrete headwalls, furnishing and installation of bottomless steel plate pipe arch and reinforced stemwalls and footings, rip rap placement, stream simulation, waste material disposal and placement of roadway aggregate surface course. The site will require extensive dewatering and a dewatering plan will be a required submittal. A full road closure will be implemented for the construction period within the project vicinity. Contractor is responsible for furnishing all labor, equipment, supervision, materials and required testing necessary to complete the project as shown in the specifications and drawings. Option to install a rolling dip is included in the project. Best Management Practices have been effective in protecting beneficial uses within the affected watersheds. Most are BMPs from the Forest Service publication "Water Quality Management for National Forest System Lands in California" (USDA Forest Service, 201, R5 FSH 2509.22 Chapter 10). All applicable water quality BMPs shall be implemented. The implementation phase of the BMPs occur after a project is completed, but before the winter season. BMP monitoring of the project is done one year later after the project experiences one rainy season. A list of BMPs used within this project: BMP 2.13, BMP 2.3, BMP 2.4, BMP 2.5, BMP 2.8, BMP 2.11, BMP 4.5, BMP 7.1, BMP 7.4, BMP 7.6, BMP 7.8.
