- Questions/Answers Regarding STAT deliveries to Cleveland area hospitals, what is the radius of the area that includes all hospitals that may require courier services? Answer: Approximate 20 miles. Will trips begin AND end at the VA or will these all be one-way trips from the CBOCs/hospitals/other locations to the VA? i.e. Are we picking anything up from the VA to deliver to these other listed locations? Answer: The CBOC pick-ups are one-way (from the CBOC to the Wade Park Laboratory). Empty Igloos from the previous night s run will be available to take so the driver can drop them off at the CBOC the following day. Generally, the other hospitals/other locations are also one-way. There are two three-way pick-up/delivery on line items 0016 and 0017. These will originate at either the VA or the Red Cross, go to UH, then come to the VA. On page 5, it mentions the OSHA Tuberculosis Compliance Directive. Will TB tests be required of our drivers HAZMAT Endorsement. Are our drivers required to have HAZMAT endorsement on their licenses? Answer: No, TB tests would not be required of the drivers. The standard says that if there is any suspicion of exposure, the VA (contracting Officer) needs to be notified immediately. Also, they would not need HAZMAT endorsements on their license, just documentation of having completed DOT hazard training. Is there a current incumbent for this contract? Answer: Yes Medical Logistic Solutions Page 46 states that drivers must be trained in handling of oxygen cylinders. Will they be transporting oxygen or just lab specimens and instruments? Answer: Lab specimens and blood and blood by products.
