- Description
- Air Force Strategic Development Planning & Experimentation (SDPE) Strategy Interchange Meeting Announcement To support its mission to capture and rapidly deliver leading edge materiel and non-materiel solutions that address Air Force challenges, the Air Force's SDPE office is piloting the AFSIMfest initiative. AFSIMfest leverages the growing AFSIM user base to provide a common "in-silico" experimentation venue; enabling industry partners to experiment with new warfighting concepts, and collaborate with government and other industry partners. The AFSIMfest process is a six-month highly interactive government-industry collaboration that culminates in a showcase event where participants demonstrate their concepts in AFSIM to senior Air Force S&T and Acquisition decision makers. AFSIMfest begins with SDPE's dissemination of an ASFIM-based constructive simulation of a challenging, baseline operational scenario that includes a blue-force mission and opposing red forces. AFSIMfest participants then introduce AFSIM-compliant models into the scenario that represent their new capability concept. The SDPE office then works closely with the participant to adapt the scenario as possible to accommodate the participant's capability concept. AFSIMfest concludes with a showcase event, where participants demonstrate their capability concept and show how it improved the operational outcome of the scenario.
