- Description
- RFQ: W912ES18T0019 FRAC Sediment Testing The St. Paul District, Corps of Engineers (CE-MVP), requires the services of a laboratory, certified for the parameters requested, to conduct chemical and physical analysis of sediment samples collected by St. Paul District personnel from dredged material placement site in pool 4 of the Mississippi River. The testing and analysis will be used to determine the suitability of the samples as proppants. Number and Types of Samples The testing required will follow the step-wise testing requirements published by the International Organization for Standards (ISO) and current oil and gas industry engineering practice for the testing and evaluation of natural sands as proppants. 20 samples will be collected by St. Paul District staff from near the surface and the locations of the samples will be logged using GPS coordinates. The Contractor’s lab will wash the samples and collect percent loss and gradation data using a typical sieve stack ending at 200. The 20 samples collected will then be used to build 5 composite samples. These samples will be used to create five cuts for each composite sample. The cuts created will be a 20_40 cut, 30_50 cut, 40_70 cut, 50/140 and a 70_140 cut. Initially, only three of the five composite samples will be analyzed for the following tests: Sieve Analysis, Bulk Density, K-Value (crush test), Acid Solubility, and Roundness & Sphericity (w/clusters). The remaining two composite samples may be analyzed depending on the results of the first 3. Approval by the St. Paul District Corps of Engineers will be required before testing the remaining two composite samples. All reporting and sampling procedures should follow API 19C.
