- Description
- The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) contemplates issuing a modification to the existing contract with Battelle Memorial Institute of Columbus, OH. CDC has stewardship responsibility for the integrity, security, and safety of these specimens, for informing researchers of their availability, and for providing specimens to researchers. The specimens are held on multiple CDC campuses in the metropolitan area of Atlanta, Georgia. The largest collection is in the CDC and ASTDR Specimen Packaging, Inventory and Repository (CASPIR), located in Lawrenceville, Georgia. Under this contract, Battelle is required to manage and maintain CASPIR. In so doing, it is required to establish a mechanism for laboratory programs to request data labels to support their specimen collection efforts including: 1) maintaining inventory record of data label usage by custodian and CIO; 2) establishing personnel protocol and training for the creation of data labels, and servicing; and/or 3) replacing data label units, as needed. Thus, the purpose of this modification is to increase the number of data labels awarded under contract line item (CLIN) 1502 by nearly 14 percent of the original estimated amount. The increase in the amount of data labels is necessary to complete the current period of performance that will end on Jan. 2018. Pursuant to, FAR 13.106(1) (b), Soliciting from a single source, (1) for purchases not exceeding the simplified acquisition threshold, (i) Contracting officers may solicit from one source if the contracting officer determines that the circumstances of the contract action deem only one source reasonably available. It has been determined that the services to provide these data labels can only be offered by Battelle as a continuation of the services currently being provided. The anticipated date of award is Sept 21, 2017. All questions/concerns about this procurement action shall be submitted via e-mail to boh9@cdc.gov. It is your responsibility to keep up with additional postings regarding this announcement on the Fedbizopps Website.
