- Industry Forum Announcement: A Weight Handling Equipment Industry Forum, sponsored by Navy Crane Center, will be held on 11 October 2017 starting at 1:00 PM ET via Webinar. The purpose of this Industry Forum is to provide information regarding the scope of the upcoming Large Capacity Weight Handling Equipment Multiple Award Contract (WHEMAC). In order for the Government to better answer the questions of interested parties at the Industry Forum, please submit questions prior to the forum. All questions regarding the WHEMAC requirements should be submitted to Luke Clay, email address luke.clay@navy.mil, by 5 October 2017. Background Information: The Large Capacity WHEMAC solicitation will be publicized for overhead equipment that is 15-Ton capacity and greater with span of 50 feet and greater, greater than 30-Ton capacity any span, greater than 60 foot span any capacity, any capacity used for handling molten metals for fissionable material, or overhaul of existing portal cranes. This WHEMAC will be used primarily for the ordering of new Overhead Cranes of varying spans and lifting capacities for Navy, Marine Corps, and other federal activities worldwide. The work contemplated under the WHEMAC will include, but not be limited to site survey/investigation, design, fabrication, rail survey/installation, demolition/removal of existing cranes and equipment, runway/equipment electrification, crane installation, crane testing, operational training, etc. While it is anticipated that the WHEMAC will be used primarily for the purchase of new overhead cranes, other equipment/services that may be ordered include new single or double girder bridge and gantry cranes, jib cranes, monorails, trolley hoists, wall cranes, and reconstitution/overhaul of the various types of weight handling equipment covered by the contracts. Overhead cranes will be designed and manufactured in accordance with CMAA 70, CMAA 74 as modified by NAVCRANEINST 11450.2 and certifiable in accordance with NAVFAC P-307. Application for use of the weight handling equipment procured under the WHEMAC may range from general purpose to more complex applications. The Government reserves the right to award up to a maximum of six (6) Indefinite Delivery/Indefinite Quantity contracts for this solicitation. Award will be based on source selection criteria. Registration Details: All registration requests to participate in the Industry Forum Webinar must be submitted via email to luke.clay@navy.mil by 5 October 2017. Please use the attached form for registration. Instructions for access to the Webinar will be provided prior to the Industry Forum to those parties that submitted a registration request. Participation in the Industry Forum is not a prerequisite for ultimately submitting any future proposals. However, it will provide a valuable opportunity for questions and answers.
