- Description
- The government intends to award a sole source contract to Thermo Electron North America LLC for Thermo Scientific for a Q-Exactive Plus hybrid quadrupole-orbitrap system. This system allow for the highly sensitive and highly selective measurement of chemicals, peptides, and proteins of biological and environmental origins. The objective is to aid the Mass Spectrometry Research and Support Group in providing state of the art chemical, protein, and post-translational modification identification and quantitation to intramural researchers. The Q Exactive Plus is a high performance benchtop quadrupole Orbitrap system based on the most advanced quadrupole technology (segmented HyperQuad Technology) combined with Orbitrap mass analyzer technique. Implementation of a segmented quadrupole mass filter in front of the curved ion trap (C-Trap) allows for precursor ion selection and hence for MS/MS and SIM scan modes besides the ability of full MS mode. In addition to the high sensitivity S-lens ion source, with the implementation of enhanced FT transient processing, further increase of scan speed and resolving power can be achieved. Together with the new and unique scan type of spectra multiplexing, where multiple preselected precursors are collected in the C- Trap for simultaneous high resolution detection in the Orbitrap further reduction of cycle time can be accomplished. The Thermo Scientific Q Exactive Plus takes Qual/Quan analysis to the next level with increased performance and new options that enhance applications from confident DMPK qual/quan screening studies to characterization of intact monoclonal antibodies. The Thermo Scientific Q Exactive Plus can be equipped with two additional options: - Enhanced Resolution Mode and Protein Mode both adding further high end functionality to the system. This instrument is an Orbitrap-based FT-MS system providing high resolution, high mass accuracy and high sensitivity without compromises.
