Page 7 of 7 The Salem Veterans Affairs Medical Center located in Salem, VA, requires a contractor experienced in the renovation and construction of medical facilities to furnish all labor, materials, tools, equipment, transportation and qualified supervision necessary to complete the project, Renovate for Water Quality. BID ITEM I (BASE BID): GENERAL CONSTRUCTION: Provide plumbing upgrades in Building 2, Building 2A, and Building 143 which includes: removing deadlegs, installing new water heaters, heat exchangers, mixing valves, insulation, copper-silver ionization, and water quality monitoring system. Expand existing Pump House buildings for new MIOX treatment skid, includes site work, concrete, masonry, roofing, plumbing, and electrical. Install new MIOX treatment skid on first floor of existing water tower. Pumps, piping, and valves installed on first floor of water tower. Perform activation of water tower including all activities and processes in conformance with water regulations and standards to fill water tower for use in coordination with pump houses and control equipment. Perform all work associated with Building 7 (PD-7-101, PD-7-102, PD-7-103, PD-7-401, PL-7-101, PL-7-102, PL-7-103, Pl-7-401). Include all cost for the Copper Silver Ionization Equipment in Building 7 including labor, materials, supervision, and quality control associated with the installation of the Copper Silver Ionization Equipment. This also includes the inlet and outlet piping and valves as shown on Detail A drawing PD-501. Perform all work associated with Building 9 (PD-9-101, PD-9-102, PD-9-103, PD-9-401, PL-9-101, PL-9-102, PL-9-103, PL-9-104, Pl-9-401) except all costs associated with the purchase and installation of the Copper Silver Ionization Equipment in Building 9. The S.D.V.O.S.B. contractor is required to perform a minimum of 15% of the construction work on the project utilizing their own workforce. Additionally, this acquisition will be awarded in accordance with FAR 15.101-2, utilizing the Lowest Price Technically Acceptable process and a best value award is expected to result from the selection of the technically acceptable proposal with the lowest evaluated cost. Interested contractors should watch for the issuance of the actual solicitation which will have specific instructions and requirements associated with this procurement. The tentative date for issuing the solicitation is on or about August 2, 2017 with a tentative pre-bid/site visit on August 16, 2017 and with a proposal due date of August 30, 2017. THESE ARE ONLY TENTATIVE DATES. THE SOLICITATION WILL HAVE SPECIFIC DATES, TIMES, AND LOCATIONS FOR THE PRE-PROPOSAL CONFERENCE AND SITE VISIT. The magnitude of construction per VAAR Part 836 is between $500,000.00 and $1,000,000.00. In accordance with PL 109-461, this is a 100% SDVOSB set-aside. The NAICS Code for this procurement is 236220, Commercial and Institutional Construction, with a maximum small business size standard of $36.5 Million.
