- The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) intends to award a sole source cost type contract to the University of California Los Angeles (UCLA) for the Scientific Environmental Research and Development Program (SERDP). The contractor will provide 12 months of research and development services under SERDP Project ER-2422 entitled "Bioaugmentation with Vaults: Novel In-Situ Remediation Strategy for Transformation of Perfluoralkyl Compounds. The contractor's required to provide research and development services to further investigate in-situ remediation of perfluoralkyl contaminated groundwater and soil. In addition this work is a result from Dr. Shaily Mahendra findings under contract W912HQ-14-C-0052, as stated below, which will be applied to this award. The following objectives of this project: 1) Continue testing transformation of 6:2 FTOH and PFOA by Manganese Peroxidase (MnP) packaged in vaults nanoparticles; 2) Package laccase in vaults and compare the activity of packaged enzyme with the natural enzyme; and 3) Test the transformation of PFOA and 6:2 FTOH by laccase packaged in vault nanoparticles. The contract Period of Performance will be 12 months after date of award. This is a special notice prepared in accordance with the format in Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) 5.2 Synopses of Proposed Contract Actions. A solicitation will not be posted. However, any firm that believes it can meet this requirement may give written notification to the Contracting Officer within 15 days of publication of this announcement. Supporting evidence must be in sufficient detail to demonstrate the ability to comply with the requirement. Responses received will be evaluated; however, a determination by the Government to compete the proposed procurement based on the responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government. The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers intends on proceeding with awarding a cost type contract to UCLA.
