- Description
- This is a Sources Sought Notice and this notice is being issued for market research purposes only. This notice is not a Request for Quotation or Proposal (RFQ/RFP) and a solicitation is not being issued at this time. This notice shall not be construed as a commitment by the Government to issue a solicitation, nor does it restrict the Government to a particular acquisition methodology. The purpose of this notice is to obtain information regarding the availability and capability of all qualified sources to perform a potential requirement. Responses to the information requested may assist the Government in determining the appropriate acquisition methodology. The Great Lakes Acquisition Center (NCO 12), Department of Veterans Affairs, is seeking information from sources capable of providing an Electrophysiology Research System Equipment for the William S Middleton VA Medical Center located in Madison, WI. The Government requests that interested parties respond and indicated that they can provide equipment that meets or exceeds the salient characteristics defined herein. Responding parties shall also provide the following information: Organization Name Organization Address Point-of-Contact (including name, title, address, telephone number, and email address) DUNS Number Business Size (i.e. annual revenues and employee size) Socio-Economic Status (i.e.. small business, service-disabled veteran-owned small business, etc.) NAICS Code GSA Contract Number Any other pertinent information Salient Characteristics: a. Common Nomenclature (commercial description): Electrophysiology research system b. Kind of material (i.e., type, grade, alternatives, etc.): Electronic equipment c. Electrical Data (i.e., 110 v, 60 Hz, 3 Ph, etc.): 110v AC, 60Hz d. Dimensions, size, capacity: 5.25 inches high, 19 inch rack e. Principles of operation: The device will need to record wide-band (both local field potentials and single unit activity) neuroelectrophysiologic activity from electrodes with multiple contacts implanted into rodent brain, both in acute settings and from chronic implantations. 32 channels of input sampled simulatenously at up to 40kHz. The device will need to be installed locally by the vendor due to its complexity and the need for noise suppression and background EMF profiling. f. Restrictive environmental conditions: Ambient room conditions g. Intended use: Acquisition of wide-band neuroelectrophysiologic activity h. Equipment with which the item is used with (N/A if not applicable): Implanted microelectrodes with multiple contacts, for example NeuroNexus neural probes i. End item application: j. Original equipment manufacturer part number: k. Other pertinent information that describes the item, material or service required: This system will be comprised of a 32 channel analog input, 32 channel digital input, and 32 channel digital output data acquisition system. This system will interface with a 36 digital headstage cable that attaches to two, 16 channel digital headstage processors that in turn interface with two, 16 channel digital headstages. Data will be sent from the data acquisition system to a Dell 4-core workstation with a 24 LCD monitor and the acquisition system will be controlled by OmniPlex software which is capable of simultaneous spike and local field potential recording and preprocessing. Spike filtering and noise rejection will be further accomplished by a second Offline sorter program which is linked to one of two USB keys. Spike summary statistics such as peristimulus time histograms will be calculated by the Neuroexplorer software program, which is maintained by a software license linked to one USB key. Additional system components include a 6 digital input cable with bare ends for splicing to other hardware, and a headstage tester unit for noise testing and system calibration for use in conjunction with the headstages and digital headstage processors. The response date and time to this Sources Sought Notice is Tuesday July 25th, Noon Central. Responses shall be submitted via email to Matt Zawada at Matthew.Zawada@va.gov
