- Description
- This order replaces AG-6395-P-16-0018 partial shipment was cancelled due to poor quality. Agar is used in diet medium preparation for Mediterranean fruit flies at the Sterile Insect Release Facility, Sarasota, Florida. Processing artificial diet medium is part of the rearing process and Agar is a key ingredient in the diet. We process 100 million fruit fly pupae weekly for rearing and release over South Florida. Project Scope of Work One of the two primary roles of the Sterile Insect Technology Preventive Release Program is to provide proactive protection against the proliferation of Florida's number one target pest, the Mediterranean fruit fly. The second primary goal of the Sterile Insect Release Facility is to continually be ready to react to any emergency situation with static, ground and aerial release methods. This applies not only to established Preventive Release Areas, but to any area within The State of Florida. An adequate quantity of quality Agar must be available for daily operations and possible future pest outbreaks. Citation of the appropriate statute and/or regulation upon which the award decision is based. 1. 13.106-1 Soliciting competition (b) Soliciting from a single source.
