Description
Kiosk/Server Hardware and Software Replacement VA11817N2261 Questions and Answers 7/11/2017 Can the VA please provide an estimate of how many kiosks are in use as opposed to how many have been shipped to the facilities but not yet installed and operational? Answer approximately 5500 Can the VA please clarify the technical architecture of the kiosks as they communicate with the server? Is the VA looking for a thin, thick or zero client implementation? Answer - An HTTPS connection links the medical clerk workstations and the Kiosk Administration application on the Kiosk Servers via Transport Layer Security (TLS) to provide real time reports and to manage patient flow. Kiosk Clients located in both VAMC and CBOC locations connect to the kiosk Server and allow veterans to engage with the application. Answer Currently, the solution uses a thin client for kiosk operations and staff access using Internet Explorer. What OS is to be used on these devices? Answer Current system uses Linux; however, VA is seeking information on new solution. What are the requirements for the kiosks and desktop units in terms of CPU processing power, hard drive, memory? Answer Solution requires compliance with industrial standards Will the kiosk require external keyboards? Answer No What size and resolution screen is required? Answer All solutions must meet current 508 compliance requirements. Solution must ensure high accessibility and usability Can the VA clarify the list and quantity of peripherals. Number and type of printers, number and types of card readers? Answer Each kiosk device will require an attached touchscreen with privacy filter and tactile reference to facility visually-impaired mode (screen and headphone jack orientation), thermal printer, magstrip reader, barcode scanner/optical imager, headphone jack, and proximity sensor (wall-mount and freestanding only). Do the desktop units have a different peripheral list than the kiosks? Answer No What are the requirements for the server platform in terms of CPU processing power, hard drive, memory? Answer The current system uses 2.4GHZ, 25M Cache, 8.0 GT, Turbo, HT, 10C/20T. Must ensure industry-standard performance How many servers are required and where do they need to reside? Answer 320 servers will be required and 2 will be located at each VAMC The requirements state ensure software is 508 compliant, but the current software is owned by the VA, so are we to assume that it is 508 compliant and that this statement is only in reference to the New software feature development for all kiosk form factors and Enhancements to current software features for all form factors ? Also, the integrated solution (hardware and software) needs to be 508 compliant, not just the software, correct? Answer VA is seeking new solution that must meet 508 compliance and all industry standards Can the VA please define the software requirements for new software feature development for all kiosk form factors ? Answer The requirement is for a software product that can be configurable to allow new features to be added. The requirements for such features are not available at this time but would largely be linked to additional workflow offerings. Can the VA please define the software requirements for enhancements to current software features for all form factors ? Answer The requirement is for a software product that can be configurable to allow new features to be added. The requirements for such features are not available at this time but would largely be linked to additional workflow offerings. Based on the requirements that were part of the original solicitation for this project in 2010, outlined in Final VPS Supplementary Specification Ver 2.2.1.P.docx, as noted below, the VA owns the Vecna provided VPS Patient Check-In software source code, correct? Does the VA want to enhance the Vecna-supplied software they currently own and are using, or replace it with something else, along with replacing all of the hardware? 10.3.27. Software shall not be proprietary. 10.3.28. All vendor provided software/applications shall include source code. 10.3.29. Vendor ensures software/applications use open source code (language to preclude forced obsolescence). 10.3.30. Vendor provided software/applications shall be platform independent. No provision of the software/application may be predicated on any individual technology or style of interface. Answer: VA is seeking information on a new solution Since there are no software requirements listed, will the VA consider bids that address ONLY the hardware, deployment, installation and support aspects of the project? Answer No Can the VA please provide details as to the requirement for cord management? Answer Due to the safety of the patients and staff, cords cannot be exposed so that they are easily accessible. Additionally, system security extends to preventing access of the internal cords to authorized individuals, such as ensuring internal connections are not established external to the system (e.g. do not allow external USB plugs). Provide hardware to enable installers to clean up and conceal power and network cables for each kiosk during the installation. The kit will provide wall and floor conduit that will provide better aesthetics and safety. The kit shall be flexible to allow technicians to secure and conceal power and network cables for all kiosk types, in a variety of situations. The RFI states Provide the following information on a maximum of three similar projects., but there is no information that follows. Please clarify. Answer The RFI is requesting the vendor experience with three similar projects. Could you please clarify the acronym, IQD, in Cell G1? Answer - Intelligent Queuing Display.
