Description
The purpose of this amendment is to post questions, answers, and clarifications following the site visit, to add maps of the two campground locations, and to increase the estimated quantity for the White River Campground from 1200 tons to 2000 tons. The increase in tonnage will increase the magnitude of construction estimate range from $250,000 - $500,000 to $500,000 - $1,000,000. White River Q & A's: #1Q- Will this be just overlay or grind and level also? A-Grind and level disturbed areas as described in walkthrough. #2Q- Do we pave the asphalt walkways to the restrooms? A-Only the one in Loop D, no others. #3Q- Do we bid by the ton and will we be paid for actuals or government estimates? A-Yes, bid is per ton price and will pay for actual tonnage. #4Q- Were pre-level and root excavations calculated in the total tonnage? A-Yes #5Q- Site B-6 is currently asphalted, overlay? A-No, no sites will be paved here. #6Q- What do we do with slumped edge across from site B1? A-The park will repair prior to performance of the contract. #7Q- Near site A-3 the edge asphalt is blown out, what do you want? A-Widen the road overlay to straighten out the area that blew out. Ohanapecosh Q & A's: #8Q- What about utility trench in road before you get to Loop A? A-The utility trench is to be dug out 2 ¿, edges cut and patched. Do not do complete road overlay on this part of main road outside of Loop A. #9Q- What about utility trench on edge of Loop A main road? A-Widen the road paving to include the 2' trench, so 18' wide here not 16'. #10Q- What about small parking lots in Loop A? A-Yes, pave two small lots, one by beginning of loop and one by Group Site 1. #11Q- Do we patch the utility trench that runs from the beginning of Loop A road along the main road to Loop C entrance? A-Yes, dig and patch the trench. #12Q- Do we pave the parking area at site C-23? A-Yes, this is the only campsite parking area to be paved in Ohanapecosh. Scope of Work Clarifications from Site Visit, June 27, 2017 Gravel Edging: Apply a compacted gravel ramp to all camp site parking spaces. Use certified weed-free crushed gravel, ¾" minus. Taper ramp from edge of new asphalt for three feet. Gravel edging shall be approximately 10 feet wide. Clean gravel previously excavated from the Ohanapecosh utility trench repair work may be re-used for gravel edging into the camp sites. No asphalt grindings may be used for this work. Contractor shall dispose of all asphalt grindings outside of Mount Rainier National Park. Root Treatment: In designated repair areas with tree roots, use the following procedure for root removal. Prune tree roots with saw making a clean vertical cut, removing the smallest portion of the root or root system possible that still allows for excavation. Pruning is not required for roots less than 1 inch in diameter. Do not cut roots using excavation equipment. Backfill any over-excavation with compacted three quarter inch ( ¾" )minus crushed gravel.
