- This RFI is to see if any SDVOB are capable of providing the following: STATEMENT OF WORK (SOW) B-Type Natriuretic Peptide Reagents and Supplies 2. Contract Title. BNP test cartridges and supplies 3. Background. The Triage BNP Test is a rapid point of care fluorescence immunoassay used for quantitative measurement of B-type natriuretic peptide (BNP) in EDTA anticoagulated whole blood or plasma specimens. Several drops of EDTA whole blood or plasma are added to the sample port on the Test Device. The sample moves by capillary action into a reaction chamber and is allowed to react with fluorescent antibody conjugates forming a reaction mixture. The BNP measurement is based on the amount of fluorescence the Meter detects within a measurement zone on the Test Device. A greater amount of fluorescence detected by the Meter indicates a higher BNP concentration in the specimen. Approximately 4.79 million people in the United States have heart failure with about 550,000 new cases each year. Congestive heart failure (CHF) occurs when the heart cannot deliver a sufficient amount of blood to the body. The condition is most prevalent in an aged population. Symptoms of CHF include shortness of breath, fluid retention and respiratory distress. The symptoms are often vague and nonspecific for detecting early stages of CHF. BNP is a member of a class of hormones that regulate blood pressure. The heart is the main source of circulating BNP in humans. The molecule is released into the blood in response to increased heart pressure. Various studies have demonstrated that increased levels of circulating BNP are found in early stages of CHF with the level of BNP increasing as the CHF disease advances. Triage BNP Test offers an objective noninvasive measurement for assessing patients for CHF and risk stratification in patients diagnosed with acute coronary syndromes. All materials must be manufactured and FDA approved for BNP testing using the Alere Triage meter. Materials will be shipped within 3 business days of ordering. All deliveries will be to the dock area of VA Pittsburgh HCS, University Drive division. Monthly updates of materials shipped from the vendor will be sent via email to the Core Laboratory contact at VA Pittsburgh. Printed MSDS/SDS will be available upon request. Continuing educational opportunities will be offered by the contractor. Electronic copies of procedures will be provided on disc. Freight charges will be the responsibility of the contractor. The Chemistry Quality Assurance technologist (Kristi Roche) and the Core Lab supervisor (Erin Palmer) will be the individuals able to place orders against this contract. We are requesting only a one year contract with this vendor. We are moving to new technology for this test in FY19 and will not need to order these items after FY18. 4. Salient Characteristics: Description of Supplies Annual Quantity Unit Triage BNP Test Panel (box of 25 cartridges), mfr 98000XR Eleven will be delivered the first Wednesday of every month 132 box BNP Level 1 Control set (box of 5), mfr 98013XR One will be delivered the first Wednesday of every month 12 box BNP Level 2 Control set (box of 5), mfr 98014XR One will be delivered the first Wednesday of every month 12 box BNP Calibration Verification set (box of 5), mfr 98015XR One will be delivered every 6 months 2 box Hazardous delivery charge 15 each 5. Specific Tasks: When the products are received and the lot# and expiration dates for each item are logged and quality control reactivity and/or calibration verification is confirmed, the materials may be used for clinical testing.
