- Description
- The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Wilmington District requires a contract to perform repair on Lock and Dam No. 2. Lock & Dam No. 2 (L&D#2) is located on the Cape Fear River near Elizabethtown, North Carolina. L&D#2 includes a low head, rock filled dam structure approximately 50 feet wide and 229 feet long and a lock chamber 40 feet by 200 feet. The dam has a crest elevation of approximately 18.5 feet NAVD88 on the upstream side and slopes downward to approximately elevation 10.0 feet NAVD88. The river bottom downstream of the dam at L&D#2 is significantly eroded creating a scour hole and threatening the stability of the dam. Granite stone shall be placed in the scour hole to provide protection to the dam. The stone protection shall include underlayer stone topped with 2 layers of armor stone. The underlayer stone shall consist of NCDOT Class B riprap. The armor stone shall consist of stone with a weight range from 800 to 2000 pounds per stone with 50 percent of the stone weighing more than 1,600 pounds. The estimated quantities are 53,000 tons for underlayer stone and 22,000 tons for armor stone. The work will consist of furnishing all labor, equipment, transportation, and materials necessary to perform all work in strict accordance with the specifications, schedules, drawings, and other contract documents. The contract issued will be Firm Fixed Price. The Magnitude of Construction of this project is between $5,000,000 and $10,000,000. This solicitation will be issued in electronic format only and will be on or around 31 July 2017. The bid opening date will be specified in the solicitation when it is issued. No additional media (CD-ROM, floppy disks, faxes, etc) will be provided. Paper copies of this solicitation will not be available. Other methods of requesting a package will not be honored. This solicitation is a 100% Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned Small Businesses. The North American Industry Classification System (NAICS) code is 237990- Other Heavy and Civil Engineering Construction and the size standard is $36,500,000.00.
