- Description
- The purpose of this correspondence is to announce a Nuclear and SUBSAFE Industry Day for sharing of information on the four Naval Shipyards' (NSYs), Portsmouth Naval Shipyard, Kittery, ME; Norfolk Naval Shipyard, Portsmouth, VA, Puget Sound Naval Shipyard & Intermediate Maintenance Facility, Bremerton, WA, and Pearl Harbor Naval Shipyard & Intermediate Maintenance Facility, Honolulu, HI, contracting strategies FY18 through FY20. This announcement is restricted to Nuclear certified shipyards and SUBSAFE certified companies. BACKGROUND: The Navy is experiencing an increased workload that requires private sector support to meet the total NSYs' workload requirements. The NSYs have identified potential Nuclear and SUBSAFE workload (built around trade skill(s) shortfalls) that they project can be accomplished by the private sector. GOAL: The goal of the Industry Day will focus on the projected details of each NSY's Nuclear and SUBSAFE workload requirements and to better understand the private sector's estimated capacity to support resources to overcome shortages at these public activities This event will provide an opportunity for both the Government and industry to share experiences, identify constraints, develop common understanding of trade skills capacity, and provide recommendations to support contracting strategies. During the Industry Day conference, there will be opportunities for industry representatives to ask questions and/or to engage in discussions with Government representatives from headquarters and from each NSY. SCHEDULE: The Industry Day will be divided into separate events for (1) SUSBSAFE Certified Companies and (2) Nuclear Certified Private Shipyards as follows: •(1) SUBSAFE Certified Organizations Date: 29 June 2017 Time: 0800 - 1200 EST Location: 4300 Wilson Blvd, Arlington, VA (CACI) •(2) Nuclear Certified Private Shipyards: Need to allow time for lunch Date: 29 June 2017 Time: 1300 - 1600 EST Location: 4300 Wilson Blvd, Arlington, VA (CACI) The Nuclear discussion will have an afternoon session for the submarine workload and a carrier workload. Details will be provided in the agenda. Attendance is limited to no more than four individuals per organization. This will be an UNCLASSIFIED event hosted by Naval Sea Systems Command (NAVSEA). RSVP is required no later than 23 June 2017 to nicole.asaban@navy.mil. The NSYs' Nuclear and SUBSAFE projected contracting plans FY18 - FY20, along with meeting agenda, will be provided by NAVSEA on 23 June 2017 to allow all companies time to prepare for meeting. Only Nuclear Certified Private Shipyards and SUBSAFE Certified Companies will be allowed to attend the Industry Day on 29 June 2017.
