- VENDOR QUESTION: On the new RFP it states for all old paint to be removed, the previous was sandblast as needed. Can you check to see if this will be the way that all equipment is to be prepared or can it be changed to sand blast to remove paint as needed? RESPONSE: TO 35-1-3 states Sand blasting as preferred way to remove paint from support equipment. We could add as little or as much as the statement requires below. RPO should state : old paint to be removed: "Abrasive Blasting. The most effective means of completely de-painting and removing corrosion from SE.... using approved abrasive blasting dry media, water blasting, or water blasting with abrasive grit injected into the water stream." AF Technical Order, 35-1-3, Pg. 3.2 Para. 3.3.2
